Re: Jack Sock

6-7(6) 6-3 7-6(2)

Made it far too hard, no doubt, but this is why it is beneficial to play qualies instead of take wild cards. Just a good old fashioned three hour battle. Hope he won't be too sore for tomorrow.

Re: Jack Sock

Jack lost 7-5 0-6 1-6. The last two sets were very discouraging.

Re: Jack Sock

Nothing has changed about the fact that he shouldn't be getting MD wildcards.

Re: Jack Sock

Lincoln native Sock sidelined after abdominal surgery

Quote:
Jack Sock would've preferred the 80-degree weather in Miami to the similar conditions in Lincoln on Sunday.

But instead of competing in the Sony Ericsson Open in Florida this week, the 19-year-old tennis professional and Lincoln native is taking some time away from the tour after having surgery earlier this month to repair a torn abdominal muscle.

Sock said Sunday during the Nebraska-Northwestern men's match he hopes to begin some limited work on the court in the next two weeks. He did not have a specific timetable for his return to tournament play, although he's hopeful for a chance to play at Wimbledon in late June.

He has wild-card entries into the Hall of Fame Championships, a grass-court tournament in Newport, R.I., and the U.S. Open series event in Atlanta, both in July.
.

.
After the injury, Sock lost tough three-setters in the first round of ATP tour events in San Jose, Calif., and Memphis, Tenn., respectively. He won two rounds in the qualifying draw at Delray Beach, Fla., in late February before losing, then fell in three sets in the first round at Indian Wells.
