I assure you...it was 100% physical. He needs to improve that stamina so he can continue to serve and hit big over the course of a 5 set match and not just for a set and a half.

I agree. His problems seem more physical. It is easily fixable if he works on it.

In the offseason, Craig Boynton said the priorities for improvement will be his fitness and getting more out of his serve (which isn't too shabby right now).

Well it was worth the long trip for a draw this easy, he may not have to play anyone in the top 300 to win this title lol. Truly a who's who of unknowns.

Re: Jack Sock

And he will jump all the way up to about 65 if he does win it, more than 20 spots, so this was really a brilliant move.

Re: Jack Sock

Let's not think about winning it all just yet.

He is into the semis with a 7-6(7) 6-3 win over J-P Smith. He took a long medical timeout between sets (not sure why), and he let some return games go after he broke in the second set. I'm not sure if he should be doing that. He's not John Isner.

He also provided some nice running commentary on his own match. After missing a ball: "My shoes slipped...I could have put the ball anywhere in the court."

Yuki Bhambri is up next.

Re: Jack Sock

Lol, losing to Bhambri from a set and a break up is truly inspiring stuff.

Re: Jack Sock

*Sigh*

Never would have dreamt my jinxing powers were that great, but I learned my lesson believe me.

Seriously though its rare you get an opportunity this good to take a big leap up the rankings. He needs to start wanting it more, simple as that.

It is an American thing. But really, a lot of his losses have that pattern. Sustainability issue.

Re: Jack Sock

You know, he did save at least six set points in the first set. But he should have closed the match from 4-2 up in the second set. After failing, I think we know what happened...
