Re: Thanasi Kokkinakis

A pity but The Kokk does not rise to the occassion...

In a reverse of the QF and SF matches Thanasi this time won the first set 63 but then lost the next two sets 36, 16, to No. 4 seed, Croation Borna Coric.

A good tournament never-the-less for 17 year-old Thanasi.

No he shouldn't. Coric has won future titles. Including one last week. He was never favorite. Bad luck Kokk.

That's a shame, as his junior results this year have been outstanding. But, Kokkinakis is a year younger than Kyrgios and Nick was having similar results this time last year.

Plus I'm pretty sure Kokkinakis could be progressing further in Australian Futures but he's getting better experience here. Next year he could go for the 'easier' points, as he may need them to earn a crack at the Challenger tour later in 2014 or early 2015.

Re: Thanasi Kokkinakis

He will most probably get WC's into the Australian Challenger tournaments this spring, but needs to get his ranking down to about 250-280 before he will get direct entry into Main Draw challenger tournaments - now ranked in the 700's, so still some work to do, but now doubt he will get there, maybe next year.

Re: Thanasi Kokkinakis

Thanasi qualifies for Napa Challenger in USA and bags first round three set win over old man Jesse Witten (ATP592), 63 46 76(4).
A good win... good going The Kokk
