Re: Thanasi Kokkinakis

Presuming he and Duckworth win their first round games I am looking forward to seeing if Thanasi can cause an upset in round two.

Re: Thanasi Kokkinakis

Yep - that is the match-up I want to see. See how Duckie performs against a real challenge.

Posted on the TA web-site today (an extract form the article:

"To complete the current player field, world No.34 Jeremy Chardy has also confirmed his commitment to the 2014 event (the World Tennis Challenge to be held 7-9 January at Memorial Drive Tennis Centre), completing the current player field which features 27th-ranked Jürgen Melzer, world No.30 Feliciano Lopez and 17-year-old South Australian young gun Thanasi Kokkinakis."

Re: Thanasi Kokkinakis

I said when this was first announced it hints that Kokkinakis will get an AO main draw wildcard.I know he could play the Tuesday night in Adelaide and play in Melbourne on the Wednesday but while its good practice Im not sure its an ideal preperation playing late the night before in another state in an exhibition event. Personally while they haven't announced it I think he has been offered a wild card already which means this is geat preparation.

Re: Thanasi Kokkinakis

Yeah, when I read that Thanasi was going to play Adelaide I also checked the tournament dates to see if it meant he was getting an AO wild card. Looks like Thanasi might know something we don't. But don't hold your breath, as TA do some crazy things with their WC decisions...

Thanasi destroys Jasika 6-2 6-0 in the first round of Brisbane qualifying. Will take on top seed Golubev next.

Re: Thanasi Kokkinakis

Bravo Thanasi.
Now if only Golubev would play his errors like he can. Excellent ball striker with heavy shots, Golubev is tough one for youngsters especially. He has good serve and movement too. The problem for him is ridiculous amount of UE.
I really hope Thanasi can bring him down!
