Robby in the US spring season.

San Jose - lost in R1 to Berankis
Memphis - lost in R1 to Lu
Robby is reaching some new laws, despite getting the easiest possible draws...
IW and Miami left, unless he gets a wc to Delray Beach.

If he continues playing like this, then... oh i don't know

Mardy Fish!

Brian Baker - Steve Johnson - Lleyton Hewitt - Carlos Berlocq - Tommy Haas - Ivo Karlovic - Richard Gasquet - Kevin Anderson - David Ferrer - Michael Russell - Fabio Fognini - Dustin Brown - Somdev Devvarman

Re: Robby in the US spring season.

We never did have many people posting here, but with the way Robby is playing I'm surprised anyone is posting here This Forum really took a big hit when idolwatcher1 stopped posting in here She was so well informed on Robby and his Matches.

Re: Robby in the US spring season.

He got WC in IW and will play Seppi in R1.
Possible R2 is Murray, but I don't think Robby will get that far.

Well obviously he didn't get that far I really think he should start thinking about retirement myself. I can't believe back in I believe it was 2005 he was #15 in the World! I don't know what caused the great decline in his play

Agree, but Robby is still only 27.
Losing to Seppi in 3 sets is actually much better than losing to the likes of Hajek, Berankis, Lu.. Who else did he loss to this year?
Maybe Robby needs to change a coach.
P.S. Next for him is Miami qualies.

I don't think Robby needs to consider retiring or changing coaches. Aside from a few nagging injuries here and there, he's still healthy. I think his biggest problem is, as they say, between the ears.

How many times have you seen a guy who is outmatched in pure talent beat a more skilled opponent who suffers from mental lapses? Robby's generally not getting blown out in straight sets... he seems to have problems closing things out. Granted, that could be a physical thing (he's had shoulder issues lately, hasn't he?) but I really think it's more mental at this point.

Re: Robby in the US spring season.

Robby has been mental for some time now And a player isn't going to win many Matches with that problem. And I don't understand why he won't go back to a sports psychologist. He was seeing one when he was playing well. Why would anyone want to keep entering Tournaments and keep going out in the 1st Round. Even Brad Gilbert mentioned that "Robby has an amazing record for going out of Tournaments in the 1st Round". And that is one "amazing record" that I don't think any tennis player should want

Re: Robby in the US spring season.

May be Robby is hurt again. He was on the Alt. list for the U.S. Clay Court Championship, but he is listed as "Out" now.

Re: Robby in the US spring season.

I think it is a very good idea for Robby to play CH Tournaments He will get more Match play in and I hope some wins will help his confidence One thing is for sure the wins at the CH Tournaments will help him to get badly needed ranking points!

Re: Robby in the US spring season.

These wins are definitely important for Robby! It's what he needs to learn how to win again, and also to realize what he needs to do to get the wins he's been lacking. What's most important though is to get established in the top 100 so he doesn't end up being a journeyman the rest of his career. He has to use these events as a springboard for the ATP tournaments, and hopefully he can do so!
