I really wasn't expecting Robby to make the 4th round at Roland Garros again, especially with the unfortunate year he's had so far
But this was a great showing for him!!
And he's the last American man at Roland Garros for a third year
So, it looks like he's an alternate in next week's tournament in London, and is going to get direct entry into that. Hopefully, he can practice on the grass and make that transition
I really want to see him do better on grass than he has in the past. It sucks when you come off of a tournament like this and then lose in the first round of the next one, but he could draw anyone, so he needs to be ready to play at his very best
idolwatcher1 did you know about Robby's neck problem?
When you always used to be here you always knew EVERYTHING about Robby. I didn't know he had had a problem with a nerve in his neck that was so painful he could barely move his head
I didn't know he had an injection which didn't work and then he had to have surgery on the nerve to stop the nerve from causing him to feel the pain. One of the commentators of his Match against Nole said the surgery would last 18 months, but didn't say what would happen after that?????????!!!!!!!!!!!! You know Robby has had a lot of nagging injuries in his career. Most have not been the type to get the press attention like Tommy's 3 shoulder surgeries and his latest surgery on his hip. Robby to me always LOOKS so fit and healthy that I think he is fit and healthy when many times that apparently isn't true at all
I think I have sometimes blamed Robby unfairly for poor play when he was actually hurt
But I was happy to see him again do so well at The French Open
If he hadn't come up against Nole, who knows he might have gone even further
At least his ranking got a lot of help with the Matches he was able to win
I'm rewarding Robby with a thread for the grass court season
