Bad luck Nick. What will his ranking go up to?

I'm sure you mean " to reach a Challenger final...

Pity he did not make it, but good week for Nick anyway, beating some quality players anyway. Will be great following his career.

Interesting to note that Jonesie, who Nick knocked over in the QF, reached the final of the first Challenger he ever played, in Burnie in 2007, having just turned 18 that week.

I was just wondering how to pronounce Kyrgios? Is it like the commentators said it at the Open? It's just there a 'g' in there and they had it being silent? Haha sorry

Re: Nick Kyrgios - Yes He Canberra

The G is silent in English because in Greek the G is more of a Y is that makes sense lol. So strictly speaking it should be pronounced kyryios. I think Nick's ranking should jump to around mid to high 500s after this tourney.

Failure is not falling down, but refusing to get back up.

Yep, lands at #576. Kyrgios receives a Special Exempt into Australia F1 and plays a qualifier first with 7th seed New Zealander Statham being the seeded player in his section.

Nick gets up 6-7(7) 6-2 6-4. His composure has really improved in recent times! He has the semi-final of the doubs with Bolty this evening as well.

I've noticed his composure (at least score wise) too. It's not easy to bounce back after losing such a close set and he did the same thing last week versus Klein. His recent doubles results are a nice bonus, they beat the number one seeds in the first round.

Interview after his singles win:

Hopefully his body holds up. Perhaps having a breather next week (instead of playing Mildura) might be a good idea so he's fresh for the Sydney Challenger (assuming he plans to play there).

Re: Nick Kyrgios - Yes He Canberra

Nick unfortunately lost in the quarters to Michael Venus of New Zealand 6-2 6-4. Hopefully Nick can get some confidence back in take out the doubles title with Alex Bolt.

Lol sorry mate, didn't mean to steal your thunder - his confidence is still there, he will be right in the doubles, at least mentally. I played when I was younger, but when my brother 8 years my junior was beating me at the age of 13 I guess it was time to probably take it less seriously haha
