Re: Nick Kyrgios - Yes He Canberra

Been a great start to the year for Nick! What do we think the rest of 2013 will hold for Nick? Any predictions?

Re: Nick Kyrgios - Yes He Canberra

Big Pass for Nick. If he can perform just as well in 2nd half of year, it will be spectacular.

He has pocketed 207 pts so far this year, with just 12 pts to defend, Huge upside for Nick.

PASS

Yep big pass for Nick, looking forward to him (hopefully) playing the US hardcourt season and then coming home and unleashing on the Aussie spring series. Could be top 150 by the end of the year.

Is there any news about the upcoming weeks? Just say TBD on his homepage.

Nick is currently training in Melbourne at the moment. Next tournament will be the week before the US Open. Either a tour event if he has the Australian reciprocal wildcard (probably going to Duckworth) or US Open qualifying

Re: Nick Kyrgios - Yes He Canberra

Good to hear Nick is training. Has he been injured?
Will not be good him going straight into US Open qualifying, or the US Open MD either, without any tour matches under his belt. He may be well rested but he will be lacking the edge you need to compete on the tour. He needs some solid matches under his belt.

Nah he hasn't been injured. That's a matter of opinion, I think Nick has proven he has the edge to compete anywhere. Been training solid for the last month and a bit working hard on fitness and strength.

Failure is not falling down, but refusing to get back up.

Excellent news. I think Nick would be totally fine going straight into competitive matches at Flushing Meadows. He went into Roland Garros after almost a month off and without any competitive clay court matches this year and we all know how well he did there.

Re: Nick Kyrgios - Yes He Canberra

Not a bad US Open qualifying draw for Nick:

[9] Souza vs Authom
Jones vs Kyrgios
Stebe vs Jaziri
Fucsovics vs [26] Rochus

Re: Nick Kyrgios - Yes He Canberra

Solid start for Nick, 6-4, 6-4 against Jones. Souza next, winning 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 agaist Authom and so not being very impressive on paper.

Nice win and can't complain about his draw in the next round; Souza's results indicate that he very much prefers clay courts.

Re: Nick Kyrgios - Yes He Canberra

Good win by Nick, with both players below 50% to start, he saved a break-point in his first service game and then immediately got the early break to lead 2-1, and was first to improve his serve stats, holding out Jones to win the set 6-4.
The second set was a mirror of the first set, with Nick breaking Jones in the 3rd game again and then both player's serving well to the end of that set.
Nick should go well against Souza.

Re: Nick Kyrgios - Yes He Canberra

Kyrgios d. Souza 6-3 6-7(6) 6-4. Nick had something like 4 or 5 match points, over three different games, in the 2nd set. Plays Jaziri next.
