13-11 in the 3rd set breaker. What a great performance from Nick.
Well done son. Awesome. That is using your break of getting the Wild Card to the Max.

Hung tough in the 2nd set tb - breathtaking.

Re: Nick Kyrgios - Yes He Canberra

Winning your first Grand Slam match, on a surface you've barely played on, as a wild card, versus someone ranked over 200 spots above you, in straight sets but winning less points, is... well... nice.

THAT second set TB!!

Amazing mental strength from the youngster in his first GS match - one that he will remember for a lifetime for sure.

i was so nervous during that final tiebreak, i can't imagine how Nick was feeling especially after seeing a few match points go by! i can't believe he won he must have saved at least 10 set points throughout the match. massive effort!!

It is kind of surreal. If this match was televised I would've woken up the neighbourhood.

I was there - I am still shaking. Awesome shotmaking today - serve was down in the second but fought like a fkn champion.

Failure is not falling down, but refusing to get back up.

I'm glad this match was first on as my adrenaline means I won't be catching z's anytime soon.

Amazing result Nick. Good luck against Cilic. Hopfully on a tv court.

That's putting it mildly!

I am imagining this means a couple of records for Nick. I sincerely doubt many others have - at any point in their careers - saved more set points pr ATP match played. Not to mention, 3 TBs pr match won is sort of difficult to top

Cilic next. Should at least be streamed.

Re: Nick Kyrgios - Yes He Canberra

Thanks for the stats TennisOnWood. It's been a while since someone as young as Kyrgios has won a Roland Garros match. I'm thinking Djokovic in 2005 who was a month younger.

Here is a post match interview:

Impressive.

Plays [10] Marin Cilic next, will be a good experience for him. Hopefully it's televised, it should be atleast streamed.

Re: Nick Kyrgios - Yes He Canberra

Is he going to get into Wimbledon Q? We don't have a recipricol WC there, do we?

Re: Nick Kyrgios - Yes He Canberra

No recipricol WC at Wimbledon. But the Wimbledon officials are not averse to giving WC's to whom they please, and a great perormance from Nick may get their attention. Not sure if Nick made the Qualies cut-off for Wimbie, which is ridiculously low at the moment, around 230 but should ease up closer to the tourny.
