Unlucky for him. Still a great week and will head into F3 with another chance of gaining points.

Yep, hopefully he can get that monkey off his back, which is to win that maiden Futures title.

Re: Nick Kyrgios - Yes He Canberra

Could you Aussies tell me about Nick's plans for the next few weeks? He's not on the lists for the Asian challengers, so I assume he'll come back to Australia?

I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives.

he's coming home after this future. He will spend a few days back here with the family, I presume we will be eating a lot of pancakes, waffles, and carby chinese food hahaha then he's off to Melbourne for a weeks prep before RG qualies.

Nice. He plays China's Li Zhe in the quarter-finals who upset 4th seed Jose Statham.

Regarding his plans, I'm glad he's having another break before Roland Garros qualifiers and juniors.

Completely agree. While his success has been staggering this year, Kyrgios needs to apply as little pressure as possible before next year. If he gains too many points this year, next year will be a tough initiation if he has to defend a large number of points.

I believe he'll gain WC's for Brisbane, Sydney, and Aus Open next year with his form this year but we'll wait and see on that.

Can't say I agree.
IMO Nick needs to gain as many points this year whilst he has the opportunity. Not over playing of course, and of course looking after his body.
The more points he wins, the better chance he has of gaining entry into higher ranked tournaments and of being seeded in tournaments.
Get the points whilst he has none to defend, then let the process of training, coaching and tournaments look after the points and ranking next year.

He's just played the last 3 weeks (including 2 doubles). Roland Garros qualifying starts May 21st, then he has Roland Garros juniors and Wimbledon juniors not far from that. Plus I wouldn't be surprised if he plays an event or two between the two junior Slams. I think he's pacing himself well. As Southend Aussies points out, he's already put 1 and 3/4 feet in the door of multiple wild cards in next year's Australian summer of tennis so he won't even need a much higher ranking for those.

There's also a series of events in Asia towards the end of the year, both at ATP and Challenger level, that may be a good option, even if he has to play qualifiers. He's played a bit in Asia in the last six months (also won a Grade A junior event in Japan in October) and could use that experience to his advantage.

Re: Nick Kyrgios - Yes He Canberra

Is he getting a WC for RG qualies? Because theirs no way he's in direct...

Can't argue about the scheduling, good solid but not too tough schedule, like the breaks at home for the young kid. As for getting too many points. That might be the most insane thing I have read on this form. If he keeps the hard work and training up hopefully the results will come. Certainly this 3 week stint has been a success in my book.

I wouldn't call it insane, but I am certainly of the opinion that the more points, the better. You're not in a worse position if you defend 40 from 300 than if you defend 0 from 260. But I imagine the concern was overplaying, which is good to avoid for a young and eager player.

Re: Nick Kyrgios - Yes He Canberra

Sweet, another semi-final. I don't think he's played a third set tiebreaker in his men's career before so it's great to see him get through it.

He's gone 15-2 since the beginning of the Sydney Challenger.

Plays the tournament's number one seed for the 3rd week in a row. It'll be interesting to see how he fares against top 200 Moriya Hiroki.
