Joe Calzaghe vs Jeff Lacy

Would like to see Calzaghe win here, but he hasn't been impressive in his last few fights and Lacy could do serious damage if he catches him with a bomb. Odds started at even money and Lacy is now the decided favorite at 1.61

Who's got who in this one?

yo jackie
im so sure Lacy is gonna destroy the italian/welshman :retard: ... maybe inside 6 rounds...
calzaghe is thee most overated champ ever, lacy was awesome against robin reid and calzaghe had a hand injury in his last fight, jabbed his way to a points win..
cant wait to see this fight, its on terrestrial tv as well.
Jeff all the way

Re: Joe Calzaghe vs Jeff Lacy

and calzaghe has been floored a few times recently, by much less powerful hitters than Lacy..
idiot british media all backing Joe
boy what a surprise they are going to be in for..
calzaghe has avoided big fights all thru his career, tonight is the night he pays.

Yeah, but Lacy only floored Reid in his first knockdown of that match with an illegal rabbit punch if memory serves me correctly. And the ref in that match was so one sided for Lacy. I'm not a huge fan of Lacy at all, but I think his brute strength and power may be too much for Calzaghe. Probably a no bet for me, but good luck if you back Lacy. It's the one I fight I was most anticipating this year so far. Mayweather/Judah is a joke match. Give us Mayweather/Hatton!!!

Re: Joe Calzaghe vs Jeff Lacy

The fight with robin reid was incredible..... despite the dodgy knock down and biased ref as you say, Lacy just crushed him slowly round by round, this guy is like an 80's Tyson..
Reid had previously never been KO'd/ or knocked down if i remember.. yet that night he was allover the ring,
the only thing im wondering about Jeff is how he'll be without a home crowd behind him, but its not like the english fans are huge fans of calzaghe anyways.

You don't estimate there will be a large home field advantage for Calzaghe (Like Hatton vs Tsyzu? The electricity that night was a big plus for Ricky). Yeah, I know Reid never got knocked down before that night, but I think that first knockdown did the most damage and he wasn't going to last after that. If Calzaghe decides to mix it up like his last two fights, I think he's going to get squashed, but if he's able to be a little more tactical and counter Lacy's bull rush type pressure, I think he's got the weapons and variety to beat Lacy.

Re: Joe Calzaghe vs Jeff Lacy

i think the crowd will just be wanting to see a great fight, no real big advantage of support for calzaghe... who's always been more italian/welshman oriantated.
Lacy's manager actually made some comments about it and lacy wore england football team shirt to the pre-fight conference ... which calzaghe did not like

Manny looked unstoppable his last fight against Morales. Impressive. I don't think MAB wants any part of that. He doesn't need the match either.

I'm looking for them to clear out the paths in the 140 and 147 divisions, which will inevitably lead to a Hatton/Mayweather fight.

Tough fight no doubt, i think its an even fight. Lacy has beeen impressive but struggled against Shekia. This one is going over for mind, Im drunk so cant type. Good luck, will be an excellent fight. Taking Joe bcause he is over the odds but hoping lacy wins.

I like drinking too, but are you sure you want to cheer against your own bet?

Calzaghe beat his ass to a pulp. All judges had it 12 rounds to 0
