Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2011

Geez, this year's contest is bad, bad, bad. I really thought Bulgaria would make it through. It was one of the few more decent songs tonight. I'm very happy for Slovenia, Estonia and Austria though. I thought the Austrian singer had a really good voice. Still have to see what I am going to bet on for Saturday.

Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2011

Early thoughts:

Azerbaijan in trouble, sandwiched in between 2 great singers.

Interesting: only low ranked songs at the end. There might be a surprise coming from that part of the draw. I'd pick Ukraine and Georgia to do well tomorrow.

I tend to agree Johnny. I can see why it appeals to people.
Same for Estonia. Performance is really messy, but it's catchy as hell.

Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2011

Doubling up on Hungary outside top 10.
Will easily be forgotten by public, as Jedward, Sweden and Estonia will follow after Hungary.

Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2011

just watched UK in the final rehearsal..car crash, train wreck, disaster.

lay big time guys. jury was voting in this rehearsal and counts for 50%

Adding:

UK outside top 10 @ 2.70

And gotta do this:

Slovenia top 10 @ 5.50

Jury voting in rehearsals? Georgia to do well?

Sorry, dude I don't buy it

adding:

mens to beat boyses, as in BLUE to beat JED-BRATS @ 1.90

If you thought that Jedward's performance in the semi was top 5 material then I don't know what else to say.
They're the ones who are going to crash considering they're still 2nd favs ( hilarious ).

By performance I take it you mean stage performance? Why is their performance messy, because they tried to do something different and original? If Estonia fails it'll be because of the chick's weak lead vocals and nothing else.
Anyway I disagree completely, Estonia's ( and possibly Moldova's ) qualification had a lot to do with their performances.

Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2011

have to say the band from moldova is one of the most recognizable alternative bands from eastern europe in the last 15 years; i think they've gained more success than any other 2011 eurovision contestant, including lena, blue and dana international by performing on several biggest open air rock festivals across europe (especially eastern europe, you can't be a music fan here and not know this band)
if it wasn't the worst song in their entire career a top 5 would be safe (they already finished 5th when they represented moldova for the first time and were less known)

i think georgia will do really well, there aren't any other songs like they have + georgia always does well at esc

Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2011

Please explain me how the Swedish song can appeal to people. First of all, the song is not good. And second, the gay boy can't sing. Well at least he is in a horrible spot, all the gay boys/teen girls will use they votes on that other horrible crap called Jedward right before him.

I will make a wild prediction: Hungarian song won't appeal to the same people as Irish/Swedish songs... (And imo if somebody like a song than he/she will vote during the song. The other case is if somebody votes at the end after all the songs but then he/she will be reminded all the songs, so no danger of forgetting anything.)

Absolutely, 100% agree
Their song totally blows, still they made it to the final on account of their performance/reputation only.
I think they will most likely be places 5 to 11

Things might go haywire if the East decides to put their strength behind 1-2 individual songs from their region, then we might have a very unworthy winner.
Voting will be interesting, so Blue and Jedward aside - since Blue are not getting much love at the moment - a failure for France will make things problematic. And I haven't seen a standout from the others so far, unless Estonia somehow dramatically improve their vocals, or they decide to go for something like Azerbaijan - which is undoubtedly a bit lame.
