To be fair, Firova's PB was 50.08 from 2006. She ran 50.11 too at the Olympics, while Ustalova's PB was 50.33 prior to this race.

Re: Athletics EC 2010

We have to get over it, it was a day made for bookies.

Saidy Ndure (2nd fav) finished 5th in men 200m.
Svoboda (big fav) finished 5th in men 110m hurdles.
Marta Dominguez (big fav) finished 2nd in women 3000m steeplechase.
Hingst (european top list leader) finished 11th in women pole vault.
Jonathan Borlee (big fav) finished 7th in men 400m.

Not looking good for Antyukh and Savinova, although Russians delivered so far.

PAW tournament wins: Queens 2005

To be fair, her season best was 50.79 and her best run last year was 50.59. And those happened in Russian races, we all know those. And now she ran a pb at 28 out of nowhere at the ECH.

Now neither Hejnova or Morosanu finished on the podium. Days like this happen.

Then it seams she is able to peak just at the right moment, just like she did in Beijing. She also ran a new indoor PB this year by quite a margin, so I would not say this comes out of nowhere.

Her previous best indoor was 51.41, it's not like she had a great run. She didn't even get inside 51. And with your logic she should run something like 49.50 in London at 30...

Of course she didn't go under 51 seconds indoors, thats very rare anyways. She did record 4 out of the 10 best times this year worldwide indoors. And she ran close to 50 flat outdoors on several different occasions and in several different years already, so you know these kind of times are within her reach. It's not like she is coming from a 51+ seconds PB like suggested, in fact Ustalova scrapped almost half a second off her best. But it was anyones race to win between the three Russians and they all were very quick. Maybe they had some luck with the wind or something, the others were fast too...

Re: Athletics EC 2010

Women 100m hurdles winner: Carolin Nytra @2.25

She has the form for sure, only has to put together a clean race. Of course that's not so easy, just ask Mr. Svoboda.
