Warming up Wedensday

Portugal - Mexico
This one going to be one of the most boring matches in the world cup
Portugal will want to keep the score as it will start, because 0-0 is a good score for them and they will finish in the 1st place.
Both teams so far haven't gave great football shows and IMO the rythem of the match will be very slow.
odds on under are bit short so taking UNDER 10.5 corners @ 1.70

Netherlands - Argentina
This one should be a good match between two teams with a big history behind them. Both teams knows to play good football, but i can't say that i was impressed by the dutch team in the first two games. They have only one player that wants to do everything(Robben) and the other players ain't playing good enough. Against both Serbia and Ivory coast, Netherlands worked very hard to win.
In the other side Argentina are maybe the best National team in this WC so far, with 6-0 on Serbia and 2-1 over Ivory coast. Argentina's football is excellent football and i can't say that i'm not impressed with the way they scored the 2nd goal against Serbia.
It should be a match with quick rythem, i can see lots of goals in this one so my picks are:
OVER 2.5 Goals @ 2.00
Argentina @ 2.00

Ivory Coast- Serbia&Montenegro
Ivory coast should've qualified from this group. They played absoulotly marvelous against Argentina and Netherlands but they didn't have enough luck in front of the goal.

Serbia has her own problems now, their coach resign and i don't think they are capable of doing something in this one

IVORY COAST @ 2.00

Re: Warming up Wedensday

Good luck Nimrodg

When i first saw ur "under 10.5 corners" bet, i thought geez thats a bit low but was surprised when i looked at the stats there werent many corners in previous games -except in one sided matches. But im still more inclinded to go over 10.5 corners since we are talking about 2 quality teams going at it, there should be more corners at least.

I cant wait for australia's turn 2moro

Re: Warming up Wedensday

I also have Ivory Coast over Serbia @2.1! You are absolutely right by saying Ivory Coast deserved to have more points than they have now. With Ghana they have shown African national football has potential. Very good midfield, good skill. They should really beat Serbia!

I allready feel a bit sorry that i went for Portugal over Mexico @ 2.5! I guess it's gonna be a draw. Although Portugal has really got the better side. Mexico struggled to win against Iran and played really weak against Angolo. I really expected more of them and they aren't that good as they were in '98 and '02!

I stay away from Argentina - Holland because it can go either way. Both teams are into the second round. I think we are not gonna see the best squads. Holland keeps the 'booked' players from the squad because of suspension danger. Argentina may well do the same. There must be said that Argentina got the better bench. So i think either Argentina will win or this one is gonna go to a draw...

Re: Warming up Wedensday

Before placing your bets on the Mexico-Portugal match you might be interested in this one:

GELSENKIRCHEN, June 21: Portugal's three goal-scorers at this World Cup will miss the final Group D match against Mexico after picking up yellow cards, their coach said on Tuesday.

Pauleta, Deco and Cristiano Ronaldo, whose goals against Angola and Iran secured Portugal's first qualification for the knock-out stages in 40 years, are among five players stood down.

Defender Nuno Valente and midfield man Costinha are the other two who will miss out rather than risk another caution, which would rule them out of the second round.

"The only changes I'm going to make are the five players that have yellow cards," said Brazilian coach Luiz Felipe Scolari.

"None of them is going to play one minute, even if Mexico is winning 30-0."

"We have five yellow cards for foolish fouls but we've seen our opponents making fouls and they're not punished," Scolari said.

"We're concerned about it."

"I think we're on the up. For the next match against Mexico we don't need to do anything much different," he said.

"I think the team is building naturally and we're going to be even fitter in the next match."

Portugal need only a draw to seal top spot in Group D, avoiding a likely match-up with in-form Argentina.

Scolari said he had complete confidence in his stand-in players and wanted them to give him a selection dilemma for the next round.

"I'm asking them to make my choices difficult for the next round. I want the substitutes to give the best of themselves and get me thinking about who's going to play," he said.

i will try and verify the above report but it has been taken from one of the trusted newspapers in India.

Re: Warming up Wedensday

I verified the above article @ ESPN..Infact Portugal's coach also said:

'We can afford to lose (against Mexico) because we are already in the next round and that was the first objective for us.

'This is the second time we have reached this stage of the competition and we have Eusebio here with us, he was the main man in 1966 and he has helped give the necessary confidence to the players to get them through to the next phase.

'We have an absolute trust in the players. Let's finish the group well but we have done what we set out to do and qualified and we are happy about that.'

Anyways no bet for me on this game mexico will try hard to qualify but i don't trust mexico in the way they play. A draw is very possible since both the teams will be satisfied with it...a +0.5 on mexico could be good.

only 2 for me

Argentina @ 2.00 and
Ivory coast @ 2.10

GOOD LUCK!!!!
