Re: The Lucky 13th (June 2006)

I have my reservations about S Korea because of some of their qualifying results. I mean losing to Saudi Arabia? Twice? lol

Will stick to in-running for this one because it's no way near the value that the Czechs were at around the same odds. I think the odds could be up to around 2.5 by 45 minutes.

Agree all should win comfortably, but this is soccer as we all know
Korea has pretty much the same squad 4 yrs ago with 10 of the players from their last World Cup,this should be a cracker of a game!!Korea has its own David Beckham wearing No.7 in Ji Sung Park (Man United ) and with a forward in 9. Ahn Jung Hwan (scored a couple of times last World Cup) is good enough recipe for a victory, hopefully Togo will be too nervous n concede n early goal would be the dream start

Be careful of France! They are an ageing team that only scraped through a weak qualifying group. Switzerland are a good young team and drew with France twice in the qualifying.

France will probably win but its by no means a certainty.

Agreed. As one that followed most of the matches in the Qualifying group, France was very weak. They barely won matches, and they needed actually lot of luck to qualify. They had 2 matches against Swiss in the qualies, both went draw and both went UNDER 2.5 goals. so does all their matches against the other good teams in the qualies group(Israel and Ireland).
They playing very defensively, it's worth to try UNDER 2.5 and to stay away from betting on france.(so far according to sports sites only Henry opens as a striker, without Trezguet)

I agree with you guys about South Korea. they have a decent team. you forgot to mention that Togo had kind of crisis when their coach quit in the beginning of the WC, and only decided no to yesterday. It made some damage to their preperation IMO.

Re: The Lucky 13th (June 2006)

I'm not one to back France unreservedly and agree with those that advise caution. I think it could be one of the most boring games so far this world-cup and it wouldn't surprise me to see a 0-0.

Re: The Lucky 13th (June 2006)

South Korea over Togo @ 1.95

I see odds dropped to 1.85 now...South Korea should have more physical and mental strength...Also Togo coach leavin and coming back...South Korea will kill Togo imho!

Re: The Lucky 13th (June 2006)

Here's a comic word of caution:

Togo's chief voodoo priest is predicting success for Togo's football team at the World Cup in Germany. "The ancestral spirits say that Togo will go far at the World Cup," Togbui Assiogbo Gnagblondjro III says.

His prediction is giving hope to fans angered with their players' lacklustre performance and a demand of $200,000 each to take part in the tournament.

"We are going to perform wonders with many things. But I cannot tell you how, because you are not an initiated member of the voodoo," he said when I visited the voodoo mystic in the village of Vogan about 45km from the capital, Lome.

He claims the team's bad performance during the African Nations Cup in January was because it ignored the powers of voodoo.

"They asked the churches to do the prayers, and you saw the results," he said.

"I myself will be going to Germany with my traditional Voodoo attire, because you cannot sit down here in Togo and say Togo will win. But Togo will win."

* * * * * * * * *

I am still rooting for Korea because I have them in pre-tournament accumulators but will wait for the odds to rise before backing them today!

GL soccer/tennis fans. Love you all.
