I am making a tennis manager game

Hi MTF,

Hereby I announce that I am making a tennis manager game inspired by tennis elbow manager.

Tennis elbow manager is a great game but it has some shortcomings. I am listing them here because I know the author of that game is a MTFer.

* It is too complex. I am impressed by the amount of detail it goes into, but that has an impact on the game play.
* The interface is from 1995. Seriously. It is ugly. The complexity of the game doesn't help either.

So what am I striving for? What will this new game be?

* You create a player
* You schedule his calendar for the season
* You begin training and player tournaments
* Season by season, week by week
* Version 1: You play the tour against the AI
* You keep finetuning your guy until he dominates

---

# Where am I now?

Very early days, just built basic match simulator between two players.

# Why are you announcing it so early?

* If I go public, you guys will pressure me to stay motivated and finish building it.
* If you guys have played tennis manager games, I am very interested in your feedback.
* Doing some market research never hurt anybody.
* And if I am lucky, some of you may volunteer to help as programmers, art-work producers, testers, marketers etc.

So .. take it away MTF!

PS: I keep posting regular updates here.

## Update

* Added player properties: match form, match fitness and confidence.
These factors cannot be directly controlled by the manager but he can do things to indirectly influence them.
Of course different players must respond in different ways.

* Playing conditions: Players game could be better suited to different conditions, the simulator must take those into account.
These conditions include court speed, bounce, heat and humidity.

Wait for my updates upcoming Monday.

The simulator screenshots don't make much sense, but the new set of screens I release day after will shed light on the actual game-play.

Re: I am making a tennis manager game

-tennis elbow needed players random generations, infinite new players.. http://www.greydogsoftware.com/tew2013/ a game like this, download demo of this game.. it's an example but it would be cool...

-Complete statistics, like ATP players profiles for example...

and more to come.. a game like that would be a dream..

online i founded an intersting game called Rocking Rackets, i played it almost 2 years.. almost perfect, try it, but there aren't players injuries and give up during a match for example..

good luck with your job man

Re: I am making a tennis manager game

Thanks for the support Ufior. I'll check out Rocking Rackets and TEW2103.

I don't think I'll be building player injuries / walkovers in the first version of my game either. My simulator doesn't support it yet.

But of course this is a process and I'll be listening to feedback and adding more features over time.

Sorry I dropped the ball on this in the last few weeks. I was travelling.

This weekend you will get more screenshots and gameplay descriptions.

If not, you can kick my ass!

Re: I am making a tennis manager game

Looks good, but do you take into account physical attributes on the court? IE, Dull's topspin vs 1HBH?

Or topspin/flat hitting at all?

Tennis embarrassments: Novack - Nadal - Ferrer - Fognini - Berdych - Raonic
