Adam's TT Commentary - After Doubles

Croatia are in a strong position to claim the first ever TT Duel title after claiming all 3 doubles ties to open up a 6-3 lead against an Argentinian side full of internal disputes.

After jackbauer was called into CTU and therefore unable to make his match, Argentina were unable to find a replacement to partner quiron, leaving the rookie to face Superior1 and Deathless Mortal on his own. Incredibly, the young Argentine held his own early in the match and kept it close. However, fatigue soon began to set in and the big Croats gradually began to dominate before finally easing to victory.

Fergie and tennisfancroatia proved too strong for ExcaliburII/GustavoM_Fan, edging a see-saw battle. Clearly eager for revenge, the Argentine duo started off strongly, and despite an impressive effort from their captain, GustavoM_Fan once again let his country down with a poor showing, as he was outclassed by tennisfancroatia once again. The result seemed even worse for ExcaliburII when it was revealed later that he'd opened up some betting accounts and staked large amounts of money on him and his partner to win. Fergie also pleased the tournament organiser, as for the 1st time this week she arrived on court with the correct clothing, with just her surname on her shirt and not her first name or nationality.

A superb day for Croatia was completed when their answer to the Bryan Brothers - Vamos Ljubo!/IvanLjubicic completed an excellent victory over experienced duo FiBeR/manu86. The Croats have made a real impression on the TT tour in a short space of time, exciting fans with their "head bump" routine when they win points. Despite their long standing partnership, FiBeR and manu86 seemed out of sorts, and reports suggested they had fallen out over FiBeR's engagement to Jeronimo. It is thought manu86 is hugely jealous, and the pair are no longer on speaking terms.

The results leave Croatia needing just 2 of the 6 singles matches on the final day to complete the triumph. However, knowing these fiesty Croatians as I do, they will want to heap misery on Argentina and win all 6 matches. They have been known to get tight on the big stage, so Argentina will feel they still have chances, and their chances may be helped by a mystery package which arrived at their team hotel this evening. It is unknown what contents were inside, as the box was simply labelled "the juice". Captain ExcaliburII hit out at his team in his press conference, accusing them of being uncommitted, and has made sweeping changes to his line up, bringing in experienced Tennis Tippers Cipa and Aguante_el_Gato. Much to the fans delight, tennisfancroatia will face nemesis GustavoM_Fan for a 3rd straight day. The Croatian has been so far on top in the first 2 matches, it is hard to envisage a victory for the Argentine, but the little warrior will not go down without a fight. If he does lose, he will be ordered to sit in the middle of the court and let tennisfancroatia spank his bottom for 5 straight hours, such has been the bitchslapping he has received so far in the tournament.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adam's TT Commentary - After Opening Singles

Croatia seized the initiative on the opening day's play in the first ever TT Duel, as they opened up a 3-1 lead over Argentina before rain forced the remaining 2 singles matches to be completed tomorrow.

The unique week long event, containing a total of 12 singles matches and 3 doubles matches is the brainwave of Etienne De Villiers, the hugely popular head of the Tennis Tipping tour. Judging by the tv ratings, there will be many more duels in the future as the fans have been thrilled by the standard of bitching and arguing picking on the opening few days. Arguments had begun before play had even started, as Croatia threatened to pull out of the event unless the most advanced drug testing methods were used on the Argentinian players, a move which angered the South American TT authorities (known as the Dulce de Leche). More controversy followed soon after, when Croatia (who were struggling for players) announced that Chilean Fergie had married Vamos Ljubo!, therefore making her eligible to play for Croatia. Clearly disgusted and eager to make a point, Argentina responded by claiming FiBeR was getting engaged to Venezuelan Jeronimo, although he is yet to be cleared to play as they have not exchanged vows as of yet.

When play did get underway, tennisfancroatia routed Gustavo_MFan to earn the historic first ever TT duel point. Having led overnight from Monday (when darkness set in because of the stupidity to start play at 10pm), tennisfancroatia played a tactically very smart match and saw off the challenge of his opponent with little worry. It was a bad tempered clash, with Gustavo_MFan describing his opponent as "lucky", and tennisfancroatia responding with "he lost because he sucked". The pair continued their argument all the way into the dressing room, and were both delighted to see they'd been drawn to play each other in the doubles tomorrow, a match which is expected to be more explosive than a GlennMirnyi-Rafatard debate. Superior1 extended the Croat lead to 2-0, defeating jackbauer who was too busy taking out a bunch of terrorists to focus on his match.

When Deathless Mortal extended the lead to 3-0, Croatia were dreaming of having everything wrapped up by the end of the doubles, even suggesting they wouldn't turn up for the final day singles if this was the case. The Croatian #1 led by example, and showed his class in defeating doubles expert manu86 in a tight battle. Despite the excellent start, there were still rumblings of discontent in the Croatian dressing room as Deathless Mortal threatened captain tennisfancroatia that if he wasn't playing doubles with his buddy Superior1, he'd reconsider tennisfancroatia's position on the Davis Cup team. ExcaliburII restored some pride for his country, defeating Tennis Tipping newcomer Ivan Ljubicic to earn his country's first TT duel point. Inspired by the recent efforts of his hero Angel Cabrera who was watching in the crowd, he eased past the challenge of the lowest ranked player in the tie to keep Argentine spirits up.
