As much as I hate to admit it, I think Pittsburgh will get the AFC North. Browns might be good but not good enough. And as for Cincy - well another good draft pick for next year!

Re: NFL 2008/2009 outright div/conf

I don't usually dabble in the OR market this early and won't again this time, but here are my thoughts, anyway. Conference wise for me it's one of New England/Indy and the Giants/New Orleans. Indy seem to be a good EW bet as you can get them as high as 10's. NE are unbackable from the off and their price won't change much over the course of the season, so you can back them later at 2's or 5/2 providing they don't run the table again, which they might.

I've seen the G-Men as low as 12's and as high as 28's. EW value again, but Osi's injury is a real downer. Dallas are again ridiculously short and unbackable and completely overrated as last season. Yes, they're a good team and if they win the NFC it won't be a great surprise. However, to hear the media hype about them (again), you are led to believe they are the New England of the NFC, which is just plain bollox.

New Orleans have a ton of weapons but I'm still wary about how able their D is going to be. Providing they don't prove to be utter shit then I'm sure the Saints can have a very good season and are again a worthy EW bet.

Personally, I took a 4-Fold on the divisions before pre-season started for some across the board interest over the season. Paying a touch over 30/1, I've gone for Indy (absolute bankers in my eyes), Pittsburgh, Giants and New Orleans.

I also think the Jags are worth opposing this year and I'm going to take a double on them winning less than 10.5 games @ 8/11 and the Giants to win more than 8.5 @ 8/11.

Edit - Just went to place the double but can't because of related contingency. It was only going to be an interest so not worth it for me to play as singles. A bit pissed I can't put it on because not in the same conference and not on each others schedule, so one doesn't affect the other. Not related in my eyes, but there you go.

Re: NFL 2008/2009 outright div/conf

Am pulling the trigger now on a couple of EWs because I really believe the value is there and I've already missed the boat somewhat on the Steelers who you could have got at 20's plus before the season. Brady's injury changes everything, and I see no reason why the Steelers should fear anyone. And as for the Giants, well we were good last season and no one believed it, and we're even better right now and still no one believes it (yes, even with no Osi or Strahan). It's going to take a hell of a performance to take the Giants out this year in the NFC. And the Cowboys being favs for the Superbowl is one of the funniest price ups I've ever seen. LOL they've even made Carolina shorter in some places than the Giants.

Each-Way Singles
New York Giants to win Superbowl @ 18/1 (1/2 odds 1,2 place)
Pittsburgh to win Superbowl @ 14/1 (1/2 odds 1,2 place)

Seattle look like a pile of shit- injuries really affecting them

I cant believe New England are 2nd favs to win this year, dont the books realise the likes of Moss will be shut out unlike when Brady is throwing, could be the Cowboys this year or the Giants again and Indy are in the mix, i wouldnt think the Eagles could do it they have all the tools on the offense but not defense- the likes of Dawkins on his day satill very good but he isnt getting any younger and over the course of a season could be found wanting

I think their defense is fine, their offense is the main worry. They have no aerial game and outside AP & Special Team they have nothing to offer in attack.

Yeah Dawkins is definitely getting on. Last night the Cowboys wideouts and Witten were just blowing past him with ease.

Yes true BG and you just know they are gonna rely on Peterson far to much, you could well be right about them defensively but i'm not to sure will have to wait on that one,

Dawkins was shown up wasent he, but its no wonder at his age on his day still a very fine player but the more the matches pile up the more he will have trouble

Re: NFL 2008/2009 outright div/conf

Jags did me a huge favour today beating Indianapolis it gives them a chance, Seattle win to

As far as the superbowl prices surely now New England wont be 2nd favs- i said last week it was a joke now losing to Miami by such a huge difference in points they will be out,

Re: NFL 2008/2009 outright div/conf

Apart from Dallas i dont think the books have a clue who to put in as 2nd and 3rd fav at the moment San Diego are currently 2nd favs for the superbowl- why? because they are capable of beating a shit Jets side that goes for an onside recovery ni the first half of a game San Diego will never win the superbowl this year

Re: NFL 2008/2009 outright div/conf

I saw some prices today that were far too big not to have an interest in. I went through all the remaining games of the respective divisions to see whether my assessment is worth playing the prices, and I believe they are.

Out of curiosity, if any of you can be bothered to go through the remaining schedule of the NFC West I'd like to know how you ended up. I came to the conclusion that every team in that division will have a losing record. Arizona and San Fran tied at 7-9.

As for my wager...all to win their division picks - 5 selections - trebles.
Denver @ 13/8
New England @ 15/8
Chicago @ 2/1
Indy @ 11/4
NY Giants @ 14/5 (I never usually use that smiley because I want to break its legs, but I have to use it for this price - 14/5 on the 3-0 Giants who will be 6-0 going to Pittsburgh in a few weeks?)

The books can't get off the Cowboys dick, can they? 5/6 to win the division and still Superbowl favs despite losing at home to the Redskins, as well as the loss they should have had at home to the Eagles.

Cowboys What an unstoppable team they are, don't know how anyone could possibly beat them.
