Wiseacre Wednesday

I am going to bring out my bold/inspired/foolish/overconfident side and say Benneteau at 3.5 seems like a more than worthy shot..

I am probably going to keep an eye on it and wait for in-running, but I can't see the odds lengthening because I believe Benneteau will make a racing start.

Olao said recently on the board you should believe your eyes when you think Vaidisova has nice legs. No sorry I got that wrong. He said you should believe your eyes if you believe the momentum lies with a certain player from the 'last match' factor.

I agree to a certain extent although it can sometimes backfire obviously.

But with Benneteau I just feel he is playing so inspired at the moment he WILL make more inroads on the Ljubicic serve than expected.

Ljubicic has been utilising his serve well. He has had to. But I am reminded of Goran Ivanesivic at Wimbledon in 2001 (he made me £5k) and how inspired he was. And that comparison does not pop into my head because of Ljubicic, but due to Benneteau.

Alright, in truth we didn't get to really see how he'd cope if Martin had been fit and firing. But we did get to see how he beat a strong favourite in Stepanek. I saw that match and in truth it was a terrible showing from Stepanek, not at even close to the level of some of his recent ones, that's why it was so disappointing. But Benneteau has to take credit too. And the start against Martin (I'm talking about the first few games) was solid as a rock.

I think if he makes a good start, he could win in 4 sets. And I think 3-2 Ljubicic is a good cover bet.

Re: Wiseacre Wednesday

I just had a vision of Benneteau retiring due to injury after about 4 and half hours! I think if you are to back him it is worth considering retirement rules..because if he does retire it won't be in the first set..

Re: Wiseacre Wednesday

Nadal to win 3-0 over Djokovic @1.66 (Betfair)

Nadal played better against Hewitt and still can improve.

I think he really realishes playing against attacking players like Djokovic. He can just defend and defend and wait for the error or hit a winner. Djokovic has had some great results and has looked good. But Nadal will be a step way too far and Djokovic makes too many errors. There are also questions over his fitness. If Djokovic's net play was better he could have a chance but he doesn't really have much of a net game. He is up against the best player on clay. No contest imo.

Re: Wiseacre Wednesday

wow, you guys obviously didn't see Djoko in this tournament. And Djoko's style = Nadal's problems. If Novak goes for the winners, Nadal will have a tough time

Re: Wiseacre Wednesday

Interesting prop at Pinny, Djoko to win the 1st set @ +540. Djoko has yet to lose the 1st set and you have to believe he will come out of the gates guns blazing with nothing to lose and his stamina, which is a concern, should be fine for the first set. I could see a similar score in this one to Nadal/PHM with PHM taking the first set.

Very nicely put Agree on all aspects of your analysis mate!!Also if Lubo does somehow get over the line then he would be a very good fade the next round imho Good luck, riding on Julien aswell!!also if you have notice in Lubo's last match on 2nd serves won he was just infront at the end while trailing early although still leading the match, therefor his opponent had his measure but Ivan n his serve kept him in against Hidalgo who mentally broke down, not too sure how good of a returner Julien cos it will go along way for him in winning the match!!I do remember about 6-10 months ago on a clay tourny Julien defeated a couple of good clay courters in good touch soo he doesnt seem undone by this surface!!!

Damn you Djokovic! Bet void

There is no way he was injured that badly, I watched the match and magically his injury disappeared when he started playing better!! He could have continued but couldn't be bothered in a Grand Slam quarter final!
