Lightbulb Try again Thursday!

A lot of bets will obviously be carried over from yesterday but because Dusseldorf features new matches I guess we need a new thread.

Considering Muller over Monaco @ ???

Monaco has a losing record vs lefties and 0/4 on clay against them. Struggled a little in qualies...and Muller has been playing quite well recently. Muller is 7/1 in 2006 vs players outside the top 100...and Monaco is a staggering 0/10 against players ranked 51-100 Even that is incredible enough to be more than just coincidence.

Otherwise I'd expect Davydenko, Almagro and Gasquet to progress.

Will think about Muller for a while before I decide to bet on him...his mental fragility makes me a little

Considering he beat a few players in the top 50, I don't think that stat means something.

I wouldn't say Gasquet is a certainty to prgress either, he has been flakey since his injury .

Melzer v Gasquet = the battle of the mental midgets

Agree, and Melzer is playing at home. He reached the finals last year, although it was St. Poelten and not Poertschach.

Melzer over Gasquet

Zheng has been a goldmine on clay, Li as well.

Re: Try again Thursday!

Got Melzer carried over from Wednesday. He usually performs well in these small events and especially well in Austria. Gasquet has been dreadful this year - unable to string two wins together and can be unmotivated at the best of times let alone on a damp day in the middle of nowhere. Obviously if he plays to his potential he will kill Melzer but you have to like the price Jurgen is at.

Also need Almagro and Chela to win to complete a treble with Pavel who won today.

Re: Try again Thursday!

odds on Zheng are fabulous..impossible not to take a "cip".
Li @1.55 is not for me.

Re: Try again Thursday!

Jez I think Muller over Monaco at better than evens is well worth it .. I loved Monaco's chances in this one 24 hours ago, but after looking into his recent results he hasn't really done anything at all despite this reputation he seems to have for being a giant killer on clay ..

He's lost to a lot of players in Muller's rankings range this year .. oh, but I see you've already crunched those numbers.

These held over matches make me a tad nervous .. thoughts of players dogging so as not to have to over-extend themselves (ie play two matches on the one day??) in the lead up to the French comes to mind!

Re: Try again Thursday!

Thanks guys for the support and constructive criticism about Muller....I'll leave the match alone for 2 reasons:

1. It is not clear-cut enough for my liking - although I agree with Mr. F about the evens situation.
2. This is Muller....I hate backing players of his mental instability

I'll save my money until Friday....some big-ass Ljubo fading to be done!!!!

Good luck today guys

Smart move Jez .. it's the type of bet you'd really kick yourself for getting involved with if it lost ..

Re: Try again Thursday!

Just the one for the fun bet as its on tele, Monaco over the mental case @ 1.9 carried from yesterday.

I have a good feeling about Monaco after seeing both Monaco and Muller play a couple of days ago

Lets go team Monaco

Zheng over Vaidisova @ 3.22 is just too good to not take a shot on.
