Supreme Sunday

Tommy to roll past Radek!

Re: Supreme Sunday

Robredo over Stepanek @ 1.46 (Betfair)

Robredo looking good today and has a 3-0 h2h winning record over Step, 2-0 on clay and one of them was in Barcelona this year and the other here in Hamburg in 2003. Over 5 sets Robredo is the only winner here and performs extremley well in Hamburg generally. Acasuso played pretty poorly against Step today.

Re: Supreme Sunday

Also do not forget Stepanek hasn't lost a set yet-can be a good fight.

I would not be surprised if Stepanek wins at the end. To be honest I expected a 6-2, 6-2 or similar win from Robredo today.

Re: Supreme Sunday

Taking: Hingis to not win 2-0 @ 1.826

Safina's road to the finals have been impressive to say the least, taking out Clijsters in straight, destroying Dementieva, and coming back from a set down againt Kuznetsova. Hingis doesn't have that overpowering game to dominate a quality opponent, and as long as Safina doesn't become overwhelmed by the situation, she should be able to take a set off the Swiss Miss.

Re: Supreme Sunday

Wouldn't surprise me if Steppy wins today...Robredo has lost to a lot of guys with a similar gameplan...and Steppy is in great form right now.

Re: Supreme Sunday

but i'm very surprised step made to the final -a talentless non clay courter- and enters the top 10
if he played before 2002 he would be no more than a top 100 player..
tennis is not good anymore..
logic says thay robredo will win in 4

Re: Supreme Sunday

Robredo should win this as he is quite a natural talent on clay compared to Step..
In terms of mental toughness.. Robredo should edge Step as he came back from 6-1 down in the tie break against Ferrer.. enough said.. haha

Hamburg Final

After Sevilla and Barcelona won the UEFA cup and the Champions League respectively, I figure Robredo to beat Stepanek here

Tommy seems to be have his focus with him these few days,
coming from behind to beat Ferrer, and grinding down Ancic in 2 sets.

Stepanek's serve and mixing up his game caused Acasuso lots of problems,
Acasuso wasnt mentally prepared to play that kind of tennis.
Acasuso started badlly, lost his first service game, which in turn handed the first set to Stepanek. In that crucial 2nd set tiebreak, Acasuso made a few unforced errors.

The h2h is 3-0 to Robredo, with their last meeting in Barcelona (where Robredo beat Stepanek 6-3 6-2). I dont see Stepanek's serve or his mixing things up, giving Robredo a run for his money. Robredo should to able to make lots of passing shots over Stepaneks, I hope.

I figure its due time for Robredo to win another title too.

Robredo might choke away a set or two here though (as he often did in the past). Maybe 3-1 or 3-2 to Robredo.
