Fun For Fish Friday!

Well he'll have a lot of fun facing Davydenko's awkward shots...serve-volleyers don't fare well against him these days

I need clarification on two issues please guys. Did Kim and Llodra serve-volley in R1? If anybody was watching those matches and can tell me, I'd be very grateful. Thanks.

If Llodra has been serve-volleying then I will take him, with little hesitation, to beat Volandri @ 1.57. That would probably be a single.

My other idea is Santoro over Kiefer @ 1.83

Also, how is the court playing for serve-volleyers? Are they finding it easy to put the ball away or is there often a chance for an opponent to hit a passing shot? This is important for Carlsen over Ginepri

Re: Fun For Fish Friday!

Very grateful for the feedback from Thursday OOP thread...Llodra is indeed still serving and volleying at pretty much every opportunity. That is extra-important for his match with Volandri...I will be back later with my final decisions.

Re: Fun For Fish Friday!

Fabrice Santoro (2.040) vs Nicholas Kiefer
The first thing that jumps out is their H2H record. Fabrice is 5-0 against Kiefer with four matches on hard and has only dropped one set against him. Granted, they haven't faced each other in years, but their style of play is relatively the same. Kiefer probably has more talent and game, but tends to break down mentally. The Magician is the perfect guy to frustrate and wear down Kiefer and cause him to beat himself. Kiefer has done practically nothing since losing to Federer at the Australian Open, and has lost to two Frenchmen since then (PHM and Grosjean), look for Fabrice to make it a hat trick in losses for the German.

Other leans...

Agustin Calleri (1.962) vs Gael Monfils
Stanislas Wawrinka (1.962) vs Fernando Gonzalez
Tommy Robredo (1.741) vs Nicholas Massu

TennisInsight list 0/5 for Kiefer when it is worse @ 0/6

Makes your bet look even better...good luck mate

Re: Fun For Fish Friday!

Wawrinka over Gonzalez looks good. Gonzalez has had problems with injuries and was hammered last week by Soderling. Not sure what shape he is in now but you have to fancy Wawrinka at that price.

Malisse to beat Stepanek again?? Malisse's game matches up well to someone like Stepanek and he should blow him off the court again if his head is screwed on which it has been for the majority of the season.

I will hold back and wait till todays scheduled games are finished and then decide.

Really? He serve-volleyed all the times I have seen him play on grass. Is he like Kim - does it 50% of the time or something?

He'll S&V to mix it up once in a while but hardly.. usually stays back and plays a power baseline game.. comes in to end points when the opportunity is right.

Murray is a better returner than Gonzo, but he did manage to break Stan about 7 times...Gonzo could break him a couple of times and won't be broken all that often himself. But no question that Gonzo is struggling right now.

I have a rule on recent match-ups but serve-volleyers match up really nicely for Malisse and the court probably favours the Belgian more as well. Steppy really hasn't much of a clue of playing in the USA

Couldn't agree more...but they are just leans for me also and I will probably just see what happens instead.

Re: Fun For Fish Friday!

Play:

Malisse over Stepanek @1.68

TOo hard to pass this up; malisse is 2-0 h2h stomping over Stepanek last week 6-1, 6-1.. Sure that was last week this is this week and maybe Radek will come up with a new game plan.. but what else does he know besides S&V? He surely isn't going to beat Malisse from the back. Not saying the score will be that easy for X, and maybe STepanek will take this to three sets.. but for 1.67 odds I'll take this for a spin and hope Malisse plays solid! Also the conditions are slower and HC records for malisse is 24-12 over last 12 months vs Step's 8-10...

Malisse also trains in florida so he'll be used to the weather/rain/winds

No guts, no glory!

Re: Fun For Fish Friday!

Add:

Ginepri over Carlsen @1.60

Don't really care about Ginepri's losses. He's played good tennis and lost some tough matches. Last week he showed great form but lost a tight match to PDorn who ends up dismantling Nalbandian and Ferrero later in the tournament. Carlsen is not much to talk.
