Re: Get my money back wednesday: round 2

I'm thinking Malisse X Robredo at a cool 4.34

Malisse is the in-form player going up against ToJo, and Tursunov is so hit-or-miss he rarely ever capitalizes on his early tournament successes. Robredo's easily got the game to take him out, so I see no reason why it isn't a good bet.

This is my parlay for the day.

Baghdatis has a good chance against Stepanek and I think Kohlschreiber has a good chance to cover +6.5 against Ljubicic. Santoro and GGL should win.

Re: Get my money back wednesday: round 2

2006 ATP Tennis Record: 6-2 (+$590)

-----------------------------------------

Round 2: Wednesday, January 18, 2006

Feliciano Lopez -161 over Gilles Muller ($1610 to win $1000)

This is my biggest wager of the tennis season. Feliciano Lopez is 8-1 versus other lefties when playing on any surface but Clay (his only loss was to Nieminen on Hard). In order to win a lefty versus lefty matchup, you have to fully understand how other lefties play and Feliciano seems to have this down pat. These odds are decent here and I am willing to riske the big money for a well rested Feli who is up against a dead tired Muller. Gilles played a 5-setter to open the tournament and had trouble disposing of another lefty in Ricardo Mello. The fact that he had problems against Mello tells me that Lopez should have an easy time and we won't see this one go past four sets (at most). Don't be fooled by Muller's run at the US Open last year. Sure Muller has experience on the hardcourts, more so than other frenchmen, but Lopez is also good on hardcourts and Feli has made the 3rd Round of the Australian Open in two of his three appearances. Feli is also 25-16 in Grand Slam matches and he seems to shine when the spotlight is on him. He is coming off an easy win in Round 1 and has the energy to play hard here. After Rafa Nadal, I would say Feli is the best left-hander on the ATP Tour right now and he is going to kick Muller out of this tournament.

Nalbandian usually gets pretty deep in slams and pulls many 5 setters. I don't think he's first round 5 setter is any indication that betting on wawrinka will be wise.

Eyeing up any combination of the following:

Santoro @ 1.57
GGL @ 1.66
Lopez @ 1.44
Ancic @ 1.14

Re: Get my money back wednesday: round 2

Probably looking at the following:

Single on Santoro @ 1.57
Single on GGL @ 1.66
Parlay: Lopez x Ancic x Ferrer @ 2.10

Will give Ferrer some deep thought in particular.

Jez, is this uniquely based on pavel lack of fitness or do you genuinely think santoro should beat him whatever?

Pavel has not been in good form for some time and demonstrated that this year with 2 tame losses - 1 0/6 1/6 to Hernych. Santoro plays an intelligent game and frustrates his opponents with spins, angles, slices and other shit...Pavel clearly hasn't enjoyed playinfg him in the past and shouldn't enjoy playing him today either. Santoro is playing good stuff this year and he is fresh for the match...Pavel is tired as well (and Moya was injured).
