Re: All In Monfils Sunday
James Blake 1.80 over Tomas Berdych
Berdych was a monster for the Czech republic just 3 weeks ago in Davis Cup action giving his country a big win over the Frenchman and destroying Gilles Simon along the way. The big serving righty though backed that up with an awful two set loss to Serbian Viktor Troicki. After that, Berdych played in the lower level tournament in Sunrise Florida reaching the final before getting absolutely hammered by Swede Robin Soderling. In that tournament Berdych had a bunch of wins over medciore guys like Gicquel, Tipsarevic, and Clement.
James Blake may be looking at his stint in the top 20 coming to a close pretty soon. The veteran American turns 30 at the end of the year and the slow decline of his game has been evident. Blake made it deep into the Australian Open before getting absolutely dismantled against Tsonga where the Frenchman made Blake look old en route to an easy smashing. Blake then followed that up with a bad loss in Davis Cup action on American soil to Wawrinka and then yet another disappointing loss, this time to Gonzo, in California.
With all that being said this, IMO, is an absolute gift. Blake only 1.80 against Berdych in Miami? Really? Berdych is 0-2 on hard courts against Blake and has been suspect at best all year (aside from the decent run at Sunrise and the first 2 sets in Australia vs. Feddy). Blake big here, I really am going to bet this one big.
