Re: LA Final Sunday

WTF Delpo odds were around 2.6 earlier in the morning and I backed him at 2.8 but now he's @3??? Bullshit.

Re: LA Final Sunday

Andy Roddick - Juan Martin Del Potro

I simply can't ignore this price in high flying Argie. The way Del Potro is playing last couple of tournaments is really impressive. He faced different type of opponents in last three tournaments and only Bolelli find how to take a set, not speaking about victory. I think main key for these wins are very controlled aggressive groundstrokes - opponent just can't find any pace to attack. Maybe Roddick is toughest opponent recently, but no way Del Potro is underdog here. Roddick just can't show anything special - poor on serve based game with pushing shots without much pace. I just can see Del Poro hitting these balls quite hard, putting Roddick on pressure. Yes, I know Andy's great record in US courts and convincing run here, but still I can't see him in top form, being pretty lucky with draw (where else You could meet Gremelmayr for place in ATP final). Roddick struggled big time against Cilic and in my opinion Del Potro is just better version at the moment. So solid stake for me here.

Pick: Del Potro
Odds: 2.92
Bookie: Pinnacle
Stake: 6/10

Cheering List
Gulbis Paire Wawrinka Fognini Dolgopolov Haas Tipsarevic

Re: LA Final Sunday

Already on Del outright at 8.5. Just a free 10 euro bet but it'd still be pretty nice. Mentioned it in the livescore thread at the start of the week.

Re: LA Final Sunday

I watched both semis and both players looked great. I think this is gonna be a very exciting and close match. I'm gonna give it a little try with Del Potro @ 2.82 (1 unit). Good luck guys.

Re: LA Final Sunday

So as JMDP is the public bet, I'd rather go for Andy.
Hope JMDP continues to improve and hit the top 10 soon as his tennis looks very appealing now.

Re: LA Final Sunday

I haven't seen Roddick this week but I think this is just the 2nd or 3rd time in 2,3 years that he wins 2 or more matches in a row with a difference of 4 or more games (in bo3)..that says enough about his overall return game, but also says something about his play this week. Del Potro however is the first good opponent he faces and also his first and only test. I expected Fish to give JMDP more of a fight but since he didn't, I guess this is Potro's first real match as well. Both players have a great big serve, but Roddick of course has advantage. DP has a good return game and once the ball is in play, he should be the better player. Roddick hardly scores winners, especially with his forehand, and DP in form seems to hit them with backhands as easily as forehands..Roddick might make lesser mistakes but also has no chance to force the point from the back. Del Potro as said has the big serve to hold easily and with his skill he should be able to attack the Roddick serve, especially the second serve.

As said, I have DP +3 as the main bet, and also small stakes op Del Potro to take the title. He is on fire and should win a set AT LEAST here. Best of luck everyone (except Roddick backers )

Re: LA Final Sunday

Public bets rarely win, Timotheus...but good luck and I hope this one wins.
I'm looking to back the eventual winner - in play. no point in putting a big bet before the match on either one then watch it crumble.

I saw Andy 2 times ( against Gremelmayr and Gicquel ) and Del Potro once ( against Fish ). All their opponents were making so many errors to the point that they were non-competitive and I can't say I'm any wiser having watched those matches as to who will win tonight. But the bookies have Roddick as a 1.40-1.45 favourite for a reason, I reckon. When the public consensus is on a player whose odds are 2.50-2.80 rarely would that player win, especially in a final. We see what happens tonight.

also Del Potro is due a loss.
