Thanks for the pics Lenka. In the davis cup forum (USA v. Czech Rep), we were wondering what happened to other tennis players, Hernych for instance. Where are they?

Hi Valexie! well, I don't understand it either...I would pick Hernych and other players instead of Minar or Dlouhy and Vizner, but it's decision of the captain Navratil and he should know what he does, that's all...

Carlos Moya: "I've known Rafael since he was 10 and day after day he keeps impressing me more and more."
Tommy Haas: "Rafael is a great player. It's amazing how strong, how successful he plays at this age..."

No no, don't worry! Minar is alright now, also the doctor confirmed that. And the captain Navratil announced today that the singles will play Tomas Berdych and Ivo Minar.

Good luck guys!!!!

Davis Cup: Roddick, Blake and Bryan brothers give U.S. edge over Czechs
2/7/2007 10:49:00 AM

OSTRAVA, Czech Republic (AP) -A stacked U.S. Davis Cup team will face a Czech Republic team that doesn't have a player ranked in the top 10.

The Americans have No. 4 Andy Roddick, No. 6 James Blake and the top-ranked doubles pair of Bob and Mike Bryan heading into first-round play of the World Group against the Czechs this weekend.

Radek Stepanek, ranked 19th, withdrew to concentrate on the ATP Tour, and 36-year-old Pavel Vizner is making his Davis Cup debut. Ivo Minar has the flu and it is questionable to play, meaning 87th-ranked Lukas Dlouhy may see action in the second singles match alongside Tomas Berdych.

The CEZ Arena is ``a place where on paper we certainly should win the match, but we are not playing it on paper. That's sort of the beauty of Davis Cup,'' U.S. captain Patrick McEnroe said.

The draw is set for Thursday, with two singles matches Friday and the doubles Saturday before the reverse singles matches Sunday.

``It is an away tie, so it is definitely not going to be easy,'' Roddick said. ``I don't think we are coming into this taking the Czech team lightly.''

The equalizer may be the clay surface, not a favorite of American players.

The U.S. team lost to Russia on clay at last year's semifinals in Moscow, and the Czechs wasted no time choosing clay when they knew they would be facing the Americans.

``The court is marvelous. It could be our advantage,'' Czech captain Jaroslav Navratil said.

Roddick lost twice on clay in Moscow, but has started strong this season. He reached the semifinals of the Australian Open before losing to top-ranked Roger Federer.

``I have won five tournaments on clay, so I know what I am doing out there a little bit,'' Roddick said. ``I think the most important thing is just to have good preparation.''

In Berdych, the Czechs have a tall, big-hitting player who has amassed a 10-2 record in Davis Cup play. Currently No. 12, he is the key player the Americans will have to beat.

``Berdych is a serious factor for them. He has beaten Roddick before,'' McEnroe said. ``If we can get a win over him, we're certainly in good shape.''

The Americans are 4-1 against the Czechs in Davis Cup play.

Go Czech Go

It was in the news an hour ago that American players behave really arrogantly in Ostrava but I don't know if I can believe it.. I've seen some ppl on this board saying that Blake is pretty down to earth

I could believe they were arrogant.

What's Minar doing playing singles? Hajek must be still sick.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".
