Cool Yet another 80's child...

Hi, everyone!

My name is Guida and I'm from Portugal. I've been a tennis fan ever since I can remember, but my oldest memories go back to the great old days of the Borg/McEnroe rivalry. Also loved Connors, Edberg, Chris Evert, Navratilova and the eternal Agassi... Renewed my interest in the 90's mainly due to Pete Sampras (boy, how I miss those Sampras/Agassi duels! )

After a 2-year mourning period following Pete's retirement (in which I completely drew away from tennis - yeah, I was that upset... ) I got my interest back, mainly wishing for Andy Roddick to fulfill his early promise. I also love Safin's genius and unpredictability and hate Hewitt for... well, just about everything (though I must give him credit for that steely determination of his).

Hope to have a good time here!

Welcome, guida!

Glad you are back following tennis again -- sounds like you have lots of tennis memories from the past to share.

I miss those Agassi/Sampras duels too... especially the ones Andre won.

Last of the moon-and-volley specialists.

I believe in luck. How else can you explain the success of those you don't like? ---Jean Cocteau

Welcome guida.

I am in total agreement with your post and will add Lendl to your list. Among my favorites are Wilander and Muster too. I am a Federer worshipper but Marat and Moya are a close 2nd and 3d interchangeably. I also agree about Hewitt. I am beginning to like him now though. He is going to be a father (I must have said that a dozen times).

MisterQ: I am with you on that, I am an Andre girl .

Thanks, mandoura, and how could I have forgotten Lendl and Wilander... legends!

Muster was a great claycourter, but he could annoy me, especially at that time when no one else could beat him on that surface, heh!)

(If fatherhood can make Hewitt a better person, than maybe I'll sing a different song a year from now. )
