Thx for posting the draw. Although it's not all peaches&cream for Nico, who knows what can happen...Keep my fingers crossed for him, as always..And the qualifier he is to fight on tuesday is a Scot- Alan Mackin.
Here's sthg I found abt it:
"The 25-year-old from Paisley followed up earlier victories over Davide Sanguinetti and Alex Bogomolov Jr with a 2-6 6-3 6-4 over Federico Luzzi.
World number 270 Mackin will now face a first round match against Ecuadorian Nicolas Lapentti, who is ranked 202 places higher.
Mackin said: "Wins like this make all the hard work worthwhile.
"Of course being in the first round proper of a grand slam is something that makes me very proud but the real pleasing thing is not the results but the manner I have been playing here.
"I try to think more about my level of performance rather than actually winning and I think that's paying dividends."
[Plus Andy Murray complemented the guy and said he is ready to enter he top100.]

i never heard of alan mackin, i think nico neither has but this can be a problem, too, i mean playing someone you don´t know anything about :( . well, let´s hope nico is getting some information before the match so that he´ll be able to beat him.

I saw Mackin once in Sopot tournament, but it must've been 2 or 3 years ago..He's still some 200 in ranx so shouldn't be a real threat to Nicolas. Unfortunately there's Nalbandian, who even with a knee problem, is a serious grand slam danger for any player..
Wonder who will be Nico's dubs partner..Any predictions/lucky guesses?
But as Woody!! said:
anyway : good luck nico!
Btw:Are you really a Spadea fan?

I think he has a good chance of reaching the third round at least, considering Nalbandian isn't in very good form and that Mackin and Tipsarevic are not something to be very afraid of.

Good luck Nico :rocker2:

I've seen Mackin play a few times and he can play very well considering his rank. I think he'll make his way up the rankings this year and i hate to say it, but he has a real chance against Nico. I hope i'm wrong .

Still, Nico should win. Vamos!

We'll find out tomorrow, as the doubles draw comes out..hope it'll be somebody with a good dubs rank:)
Nico started playing his first match, and he started in a brilliant style: from a break! He's got re-broken fast though:sad: Mostly because his first service isn't working great so far[~40-50%..sadly, that's nothing new],he had a double fault but also...two ACES!Seems he's moving well&didn't lose the touch=>5 out of 8 net approaches brought points. While Mackin [born in 1981, 171 cms tall]managed to commit 22 UE in the first set only... His service doesn't look like a killa one either. He started approaching the net more eagerly than at the beginning[4/7 worked].
Yes!!!Nico broke him once again!In a very important moment-now it's 5-4 and Nicolas to serve.Hold your service!
He held it and took th first set 6-4![he improved his service a lil:61% [20/33] with 70% wins on his 1st serv.]
Now I gotta go...too bad no coverge for court nr 19, diff. to say sthg sensible basing on a scoreboard only..Anyways:looks promising for our boy, if he serves the way he did at the end of the 1st set it should be muy ok!
VAMOOO NICO!

The second set is even so far, traditionally Nico broke Mackin, and got re-broken instantly..those boys:rolleyes: It's 3-3 now..
What worries me more, is that they are playing in the biggest heat, it's half past twelve and here's an info from the eurosport commentators:
LATEST NEWS.....We are getting word that matches on the outside courts will be stopped once the current games are finished because it is so hot. The roofs will be closed on Rod Laver and Vodafone too so those games can be played in relative comfort.
Hopefully he won't get too exhausted by those conditions:unsure:
[btw:Nalby lost the 1st set vs Tipsarevic...]

I give up, I was to go twice already..but too curious what will happen next to do that.. So, some updates, Nicolas won the second set as well and leads 6-4 6-4. The 3rd has just started...[eurosport again: "..Scotland may have to put all their eggs in Andy Murray's basket...Mackin now two sets down." ]btw: 58 UE from the Scott!
Nalbandian is two sets down atm too..Janko leads 4-2 in 3rd,but with Nalby you never can be sure..He often recovers from even worse situations, although this time it might be difficult due to his injury. He's fighting hard..down from 2-5 he took it to 5-5!Any of them will be a tough opponent for our ecuadorian guy...Tipsarevic served 13 aces so far, his s. speed is often above 200 km/h. Back to the topic:
Nico broke Alan and is to serve, it's 3-2:) .....4-2:D ...5-2[he brreaks] and 6-2:bigclap:
NICOLAS LAPENTTI WINS 6-4 6-4 6-2:hatoff:

They lost to Mertinak/Pala, so now it's time to focus on cheering for Nico as much as we can coz the match that awaits him won't b easy..i was spying on Nalby's forum, they say his knee problems are gone and he feels steamin' ready to fight..Lucky espn spectators, rumours say they will broadcast this match for you[jealous]
Vamos Nico&Viva Ecuador!

4-6 4-6 4-6... but it's Nalbandian, so the result isn't really disappointing[though secretly I was counting at least on a 5 setter]..important is, as you say, that he got through the first round&gathered some points, + we know he's in good shape, that's a good prognostic for upcoming events.

Hmmm, I didn't really think Nico would win vs Nalby, but thought it could be better than straight sets. On the other hand it's true what Paul said, that Nico gained points for the rankings as last year he had the stupid hepatitis.
