The official Nico Lapentti's cheering thread!

Till now we did most of the cheering job in the "Schedule" thread..not too many of us expected Nico to be in such a great form so fast..Now that he climbs in ranks so rapidly and wins one match after another I think it's high time to create an 'official' cheer&support place..
To all Nico fans: HE'S BAACK!

yeah it´s so cool how successful nico is at the moment. and it absolutely shows that i was right and what was nico telling himself...it was mostly a problem of selfconficende, now after having won in poland, he believes in hisself and can play his best tennis again. well if it already is his best, who knows what will follow the upcoming weeks !

Absolutely!Though it won't be easy, Volandri is in great shape lately&the [home]crowd will probably be on his side..I like them both, but I'll definately cheer for Nico tomorrow

Re: The official Nico Lapentti's cheering thread!

Nico lost 7-5 1-6 3-6 First set showed how brilliantly he plays, then the physical crisis came, he could hardly run during the 2nd set, he took a medical break, then did his best in third..but was just too exhausted.
Too bad, but still a final in Palermo is more then anyone would expect after his win in Szczecin last week. So thumbs up&congrats for the last two weeks Nico!
Have a (well deserved) rest this week, and come back to Europe soon (Paris maybe???)
Good luck in your next tournaments!

Re: The official Nico Lapentti's cheering thread!

yeah it´s sad nico lost the final, but i´m glad he didn´t lose badly. well, although i remember him saying once that he prefers losing clearly than losing a match he could have won. but however, he had 2 fantastic weeks and i´m sure there´ll be more great weeks coming !

Re: The official Nico Lapentti's cheering thread!

I don't think Nico will be back in Europe this year. When I spoke to him the other night, he said he would be playing in South America for the remainder of the season - at least he said that before he got to the final in Palermo. I have a feeling though that he will follow through on his plans to stay on the clay for the last few weeks of the season and make a big run at the start of the next season - after all he has nothing to lose (literally - no points) because of his Hepatitis at the start of this year.

From what he said, I think he is feeling more motivated now than he ever has before. I remember his Mum or Dad saying to me that Nico was told by Pato Rodriguez at the end of 1998 that either he had to knuckle down and give tennis 200% or quit and he did the former (and remember what happened within 12 months) - I wonder if Enrique his current coach did roughly the same thing. I know that since he took up with Senor Perez, Nico has not looked back since starting with him prior to Stuttgart.

I think Nico really deserves his week off. When the new rankings list appears its going to prove that Nico has nearly halved his ranking in the last 2 weeks and lets hope he continues to move up the list in the coming weeks.

Re: The official Nico Lapentti's cheering thread!

First, he really deserves his week off, and as second I really understand that he returns to South America. He's been for some weeks now in Europe and Europe and South America are very far away. So I don't mind him playing in South America. (The only thing that disturbs me are the 6 or 7 hours time difference, )

Vamos Nico in the next tournaments!

Vamos Nando! Come on Andy! A portuguese Vamos to André Sá e Marcelo Melo! Vamos Gastão!Auf geht's Dustin! Vamos ChristianLindell!Vamos David! Pojd Tomáš! Davai Dolgo!
