Ok, well to deal with pics first, I don't have any
. That's right, I went to Rome without a camera. I got lots of other pics from the friends I was with, but they didn't watch Nico's matches
Ok, so on Saturday I watched Lapentti v Lorenzi. I can tell you, I was not a happy guy. 12 years I'd been waiting to see Nico and the first set he gave me was frankly terrible. The Italian crowd were pissing me off so much, but for each cheer for Lorenzi I cheered for Nico. I got some funny looks when i was shouting Vamos Nico
but they didn't attack me.
Almost certainly because of me, the second set went much better. Not really that Nico was too good, Lorenzi was simply awful
. So, Nico took that set 6-1 after losing the first 6-3 I think.
The third set was, unlike the rest of the match, actually pretty good, both players played better. Nico always looked more likely to win and in the end he did
7-5 in the 3rd.
Now, the next day I figured that Roger-Vasselin was a good opponent, in that he's not very good
. Still, Nico would have to up his game. Well, Nico looked like the world number 6 again. He just owned him from start to finish. Roger-Vasselin on the other hand looked like the world number 8000, he was pitiful. Still, for this performance Nico deserves
d. I'm so glad he showed me just how good he can be.
On Monday I was really upset cos Nico wasn't playing and I didn't think I'd get a ticket on Tuesday. I did though
unfortunately, cos Nico was playing Volandri I couldn't see it as I didn't have stadium tickets. Basically I can't take any credit for that win and I don't even know how he played. BUT it does mean when i'm at a tournie where Nico's playing he is 3 out of 3. Can't be coincidence that he left the day I did
