Vamos Nico

I don't think its a good idea either...

He'll play doubles Monday at approximately 4:00 Houston time (which I believe is 5:00 Chile time).

Por favor, Nicolas, be muy muy careful!

Re: Nico Returns (we hope) in Houston!

I thought Houston is 1 hour behind the east coast....could be wrong. Chile and the east coast have the same time.

Re: Nico Returns (we hope) in Houston!

I checked timeanddate.com just in case.

When I checked a minute ago, it was 4:36 p.m. in Santiago and New York, and 3:36 p.m. in Houston.

And yes, indeed, Houston is one hour behind Santiago and the east coast of the US.

Everyone else out there will have to figure out their own...I'm surprised I got this one right because usually I get them wrong...lol!

Buena suerte to Nico! So nervous and worried about him playing again.

I'm going to post a good article from latercera.cl in the news section, but he seems like he's calm about it. I hope so...

Oh, its okay that he lost. He hasn't played in so long that I don't expect him to win for awhile. As long as he stays healthy...soy muy contento!

Re: Nico Returns (we hope) in Houston!

Two things:

1) He plays singles tonight at approximately 8:00 p.m. Chile/NY time, 7:00 p.m. Houston time.

2) Hey Fergie, can you change thread names? Can we change this to: Nico Returns in Houston!!!

Re: Nico Returns (we hope) in Houston!

I hope how positive I am feeling about him playing 3 sets yesterday is not just wishful thinking. I really feel he is going to be OK and maybe surprise himself and us. Remember, this is the guy who was 0-7 on hardcourts when he rolled into Athens and we all know the heart and body he gave there. I think that is why I put so much faith in him which might not always be fair on my part. I still am in awe when I think of what he did that week and those last 24 hours. I remember the goose bumps I got when he wraped that flag around himself and walked around the court. And I wasn't a fan yet! I don't know how all of you who followed him and support him did it. I would have been freaking out. I got the goose bumps for him, Chile and the game of tennis, in that order. I also remember being so sad that more wasn't made of what he and Fernando did in the media here in the States. So I never lose hope and faith because we all saw what he is made of.

Re: Nico Returns (we hope) in Houston!

Every time I watch his gold medal match, I get nervous for him, worry about him cuz he's so tired, and get thrilled all over again when he wins!

I wish he had the same kind of results when he isn't playing for his country. When he plays for Chile, he could beat Roger/Borg/McEnroe/Sampras combined! lol! He's all heart! But when he's only playing for himself, he obviously plays very hard, but he doesn't seem to have the same confidence in himself. I don't understand. Of course, I like that about him that he plays so hard for Chile...he's a good boy...even though, like Fergie said, he can be sometimes so... (Like the match with Sargasian...lol!). He can be frustrating to watch sometimes, but no matter what, I love him and he will always be numero uno!!!

Re: Nico Returns (we hope) in Houston!

When I was at Indian Wells, I met this guy from Spain who still plays in tournaments for men 70 and over. He was great. I asked him what he thought of Massu and he looked at me and started pointing to his head and said over and over "Chilean in the head, Chilean in the head!" He said Massu was crazy and always mad and started telling me a story from a year ago when he saw Massu play Nadal on the very court we were at. He said he could understand Massu of course and he was pacing the court ranting "I don't need this! I am going home and getting some rest!" The guy was cracking me up. But then I talked to a Latino woman later and all she could talk about was his heart. When something funny or a bit crazy happens, my daughter and I still walk around pointing at our heads saying "Chilean in the head, Chilean in the head." And that is the very reason I like Nicolas, all that emotion. Sure he has a good game and is easy on the eyes but he wears his feelings right out there and I like that. And that is why I don't like Federer. (Sorry to his fans).
