nice to see that India is getting their best to (try) beat Serbia. It won't be easy on singles anyway.

With Djokovic withdrawing there is a chance for India, not much of one, but it is far more even without Djokovic.

Re: World Group play-off: Serbia at India (September 12-14, 2014)

India in the past has done very well in the Davis cup matches against top rated teams [like USA when they had No.1 and No.5 players in the ranks].

One of the main challenge for Serbia team would be heat, and I am not sure Nole would time to play for Davis cup in the early rounds, but on the other hand India no longer have players like Ramesh Krishnan or say Leander Paes in singles to perform for them.
