Re: Tommy news

What'd he say? Can't imagine them being worse than the j-block in 2007.

I thought the guys were stupid and silly looking and not good representatives for U.S. Tennis at all Actually of all the U.S. group attempts I think James' J Block is one of the best. Too bad they don't seem to be helping James much lately--sorry I just had to put that in

Re: Tommy news

I actually think the j-block is/was not so bad, and I also remember Tommy saying back then that he didn't mind those guys, that they positively added to the atmosphere.

I honestly think that Tommy enjoys playing under circumstances like these, so if he complains I'm sure it's not without merit.

Re: Tommy news

According to this article http://sports.yahoo.com/ten/news?slu...yhoo&type=lgns that is what Tommy said:
"Those guys just showed they have no class,” Tommy Haas of Germany said of the group of fans after he lost to Querrey in the semifinals. “It’s up to Sam to take control of the situation if he wants to.”

I didn't watch any match from the LA tournament so I cannot really judge about the situation but according to this article this fan group annoyed not only Tommy but also other players and spectators
So I don't think it's quite fair to say that Tommy is "whining" just because he lost.

Tommy Haas | Marat Safin | Rafael Nadal | Igor Andreev

Monfils | Murray | Davydenko | del Potro

Re: Tommy news

I was at the match, and they were so obnoxious. I can't believe the umpire let them get away with it for the entire match. There were those of us cheering for Tommy and showing support for him, but I guess it wasn't enough. It was funny though, after his match Jim Courier and Michael Chang played an exho match and the crowd was yelling 'Jim!' or 'Michael!' and some guy yelled out 'Tommy!'

Re: Tommy news

Some pointless stats: so far this year, Tommy is 12th in the "service games won" and "1st serve points won" rankings, and 4th in "break points saved".

Re: Tommy news

According to Tommy's profile on the ATP website, Thomas Hogstedt is his official coach again. Cool. I hope that's indeed the case ...

Re: Tommy news

Really? I've only seen a blank there for a long time. Anyway, only the big tournaments? Well, has there been an event lately where Hogstedt WASN'T with Tommy?

Yes, really I did not see him in Washington, maybe I didn't realize it...I think that's what Tommy said, Hogstedt will be with him here and there...

Re: Tommy news

I just think it's a little weird. Hogstedt has to have at least one proper contract, either with Tommy or with the tennis base here in Munich. I don't know how this half-assed stuff is supposed to work. But I guess they know better than I do.
Better than nothing. I think this team surrounding Tommy right now works really well for him, so I hope this is for good now.
