Koubek tested the surface in Vienna and said that it isn't as slow as two years ago, but still not too fast.

The field is very strong, but Canas and Haas are Koubek's two favorites to win this tournament. Haas is visiting his grandmother in Graz who celebrated her 80th birthday before he comes to Vienna.

Koubek also wants to play doubles the week in Vienna and a possible partner could be Tommy Haas.

Carlos --- C'MON Lleyton!!! --- Kiwi!!! --- Jürgen --- Juan

Best of luck to all Germans : Nicolas Kiefer | Rainer Schüttler | Lars | Florian | Tommy

Re: Tommy in Vienna

Tommy has lost doubles together with Stefan Koubek 5-7 5-7 against Etlis/Rodriguez.

The loss is okay and they battled in this match. Their opponents broke early in the 1st set, but Haas/Koubek could get the break back but they were again broken at the end of the set
And the 2nd set also had quite a few breaks, at the end the Argentines were serving for the match but Haas/Koubek broke back again but then they got broken again towards the end of the 2nd set to lose finally again 5-7.

The bad thing is that Tommy's serve was broken one or twice more often than Koubek's.

I hope that doesn't mean much for singles performance

Best of luck to all Germans : Nicolas Kiefer | Rainer Schüttler | Lars | Florian | Tommy

Re: Tommy in Vienna

Tommy is currently in the crowd watching his pal Glenn Weiner play Alexander Paya. Weiner is not doing so well, a break down in the final set

My German guys are like the cast of the Wizard of Oz:

Rainer = Lion
Kiwi = Scarecrow
Tommy = Tin Man
Flo = Dorothy

...but I still love 'em
