would be a poor excuse

well I think he needs more match time, but the next break is coming after Miami, because he won't play any clay tournament i guess...tough situation at the moment

Re: Tommy and the Delray Beach quest.. Auf Geht's!

I just hope he gets ready for the major tours as the upcoming IW... Still,we can't expect major changes as he only played 7 matches since August. I hope for the best for the important next tour ...

Re: Tommy and the Delray Beach quest.. Auf Geht's!

Remember how badly Tommy played at the same time last year, with defeats against Hartfield in Delray Beach, Isner in San Jose, Becker in Memphis and then the destruction against Ferrer in Dubai (3:6 0:6), all of them in round 1 or 2. And then, all of a sudden, he exploded in Indian Wells and beat Benneteau, Roddick, Verdasco and Murray!
At the moment it is hard to believe he will be able to do something similar again this year, but at least we can hope.

Re: Tommy and the Delray Beach quest.. Auf Geht's!

I think it's impossible to predict or expect anything for the upcoming weeks. It's not like he doesn't know how to play tennis anymore, or has to work on something specific, improve something. He's long past that. At some point, he will just kick in again, and that could be pretty much any time. Could be next week, could be next month ...

I can help but wonder how good Tommy's health really is right now Tommy normally tries very hard to play down the issue of his health. And he is caught in the cycle that he can't get much match play because he isn't winning and (if his health is really all right) he needs more match play to win.

I don't know, according to comments it doesn't seem worth your effort and time.

So it's IW and Miami next now. Lets hope for a good draw and the form from the start of the season.

Pretty bad loss imo.. Chardy is a player that Tommy can definitely beat. I didn't see the match, but out of your comments I can only thank for that Get it together for IW and Miami Tommy, it's your only way to gain points until the grass season.

No, that's a mistake. There is a corrected version in the ATP Playerzone as kiwi posted in the IW topic. But there will be at least one withdrawal, believe me

Haas on his way back

In the first version of the Acceptance list the ATP forgot to put in Chela with his protected ranking. They corrected it and unfortunately Tommy was the one who dropped out...
But like El Tenista said there are a few players in doubt already. Gonzalez with a backinjury and Verdasco (I think ankle) for example.
