Marat "The champion" Safin's Supporting Thread

WTF is going on ? No thread for safin still. where are all the safin fans? I remind you all he is the reigning GS champion and a poor build-up doesn't mean anything for safin before a GS in particular AO or RG. At RG he still is as fearful a opponent as there is anyone out there. Common Marat time to give your critics a slap in their faces and a small kick in the back of your fans. Put your best efforts and let me see who can stop you from winning RG.

for me, marat is just a pity, whatever the reason for his down is, i choose to give out my support.

i think he needs time and courage. so wait to see, hope that the guy will be his good status.

it won't matter whether he will win in the end, to watch his good match, it is enough

Re: Marat "The champion" Safin's Supporting Thread

I hope Marat is getting good practise on those courts. Thats what is important to him. Remember Marat you are the only one with a chance to have a Grandslam this year and whatmore you have the game and all the tools to win the remaining 3. so why not give it a shot. Just focus on match by match and RG is yours for the taking. Its as simple as that.
And Peter do enough to keep safin on track. Good Luck Marat

GO MARAT!!!

Marat: Last question: what do you think of me? Dinara: You are my god! When you play, I love
to see you. When you lose, I am even sadder than when it is me. When you are wounded, I suffer.
When you speak to me, I drink your words. When you come to see me playing, I am with the angels.

Marat can do it!!! I know it, he knows it, everybody should know it!!! He needs determination, luck and he has to give out his best. If he really wants to, he can do anything. Including winning the RG. How else did he defeat Federer? That was certainly not luck!!
And if he doesn't win it, at least he will do some good matches and score some new points he needs to get close to the first position in the ATP race. But watch out for his power to surprise!
Forever a fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Goooo SAFIN ~ BERDYCH ~ MURRAY ~ SIMON ~ NALBANDIAN ~ SODERLING

Re: Marat "The champion" Safin's Supporting Thread

WTF? This is a nightmarish draw one could get at RG.
Probable opponents
3rd round : Ferrero
4th round : Kuerten/Robredo
QF : Coria

This is a real challenge. Playing JCF, Kuerton, Coria back to back my god. I think its Marat.

But still Go Marat

Re: Marat "The champion" Safin's Supporting Thread

What's odd (and great) about Safin is that in grand slams, he thrives on pressure. Remember the 2003 Australian Open when he beat (I think) Agassi and Ferrero back-to-back?

The third round duel w/ Ferrero is unfortunate, but if he can get through that, I think he's be ok until the semies. Kuerten is a shadow of his former self (sorry Guga fans; I love him too, but it looks like his time has passed) and Coria has to face his own tough opponents before dueling with Safin.

Safin drew a crappy draw, but the man has pulled off miracles before. He should keep these two thoughts in the back of his mind:

"I beat Sampras when he was the best"

and

"I beat Federer when everyone said he was the best"

If he has the belief, his talent will take him deep into the second week and, maybe, the winner's circle.

Re: Marat "The champion" Safin's Supporting Thread

Coria has an easy ass draw and I don't think Kuerten will come out of his section. It will most likely be Robredo. So Marat has a very difficult draw.

Novak Djokovic

Also supporting:
Paul-Henri Mathieu Richard Gasquet Marat Safin

Re: Marat "The champion" Safin's Supporting Thread

If Safin and Robredo duel, consider this: Safin has a 4-2 edge over Tommy.

And if it comes down to Safin and Coria? Both are dead even, 1-1. Safin won their last match.

Bad draw? Yes. But let's try and thiunk postive

Exactly. The self-belief is what he is lacking. If he manages to win over ferrero then i think its real trouble for coria. And for god's sake why shouldn't he win. He obviously is better at any shot than the likes of ferrero and coria. peter should remind him how he won over agassi and kuerten at RG when he was 18-year old and do enough to make him believe himself.

Don't worry people. Safin is going to be the 2005 RG champion. Just sit back and watch.

THIS IS SAFIN'S YEAR!!!
