Juanqui, a contender @ the US OPEN

From TENNIS magazine: USOPEN PREVIEW 2002

pg. 40,43.

Ferrero, 22, crept quietly into the world's No. 5 position for 2001. And on hard courts, the French Open finalist from Villena, Spain, must be taken more seriously than other clay-court specialists (see Costa or Alex Corretja). The Mosquito has sting in his strokes, plus an improved serve that promises to be the foundation of a dangerous hard-court game. "Ferrero moves really well," Agassi says, "so he's always looking to play offense. He hits his forehand big, the backhand is solid, and his heavy first serve gets him the lead in a lot of points."

pg. 45.

How we see the men and women faring at the U.S. Open.

Juan Carlos Ferrero, 22 ->
Spain

"Of the Spanish players, he's the best equipped for hard courts. But New York doesn't seem like his kinda town." !LOL!

"Ferrero's going to be a tough one for anybody. This guy is the real deal already. He's got a chance at going a long, long way. This guy could be the best Spanish player ever; that's saying something." - John McEnroe, June 2000

hmm, I hate to laugh at them and all - but Corretja has won Indian Wells, The Masters Cup, and been a quarters at the US Open....

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

If he can make it there, he'll make it anywhere... New York, New York!

Ooops, this isn't the thread where we sing karaoke.

But you get the picture. I agree with Leo. New York will be his!

What's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding?
