i'm worried about Fernando Gonzalez in the 3rd round. after his inredible run at Cincy i think he could give Juanqui a REAL test, he hits the ball SO hard. and i really love his one-handed backhand down the line. VAMOS Juanqui!!!!!!!!!

I'm worried about Gonzalez too. It will be a hard match to watch on the scoreboard, but then I probably won't even be here. I'm going out tomorrow night.

What's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding?

hopefully CBS will show a bit of his match tomorrow, but i doubt it! coverage here in the states is so biased! i'm sick of watching Andre and Andy!

Goodnight, Layla! Well, I assume you're the one that's going . . .

Yes, I just saw the news. It's sad And I did pick Hewitt to win in 5 but I was hoping against hope that James would beat him. It was really close though, so maybe next time . . .

Okay, now THIS is a disgrace: if Gambill can make it to the fourth round, but not Juan Carlos! Jan-Michael destroyed Gaston Gaudio 6-0, 6-2, 6-0

C'mon Juanqui!!!

Thumbs down Disgusting

It doesn't seem quite even, really . . .

Prize Money

SINGLES (Men and Women - 128 Draws)
Winners $900,000
Runners-Up $450,000
Semifinalists $250,000
Quarterfinalists $125,000
Round of 16 $58,000
Third Round $36,500
Second Round $21,000
First Round $11,000

The winner gets almost twice as much as the runner up, and the first-rounders barely get anything at all in comparison. I hate that the US Open spends so much on the winners of the singles titles.

the runner-up deserves more prize money than that, i agree.

wow, Gambill really spanked Gaudio bad! i was expected close 5-setter, but Gaston won just 2 games! well now Jan-Michael will lose to the 32-year old in straights! am i the only one who REALLY hates Gambill? all he has is a serve, i don't like his 2-handed groundstrokes on both sides, and he never seemed dedicated to tennis. but he is certainly shaking up the draw here in New York...

I can't stand to watch Gambill play, he's sooooooo ritualistic. And the two hands off both sides is annoying to watch as well. I thought Gaudio would also lay the hurt, but apparently not

But I agree, Agassi'll nip him in the bud

I just can't believe the score. Gaudio and Moya is making Gambill looks like a genius. I don't like that. Now I hope Andre will give him some bagels.
