PMac: Well, Cliff, due to Andy's heartbreaking loss yesterday, we're going to watch a bit of this Corretja-Gasquet match.
Cliff: Yes, Patrick, how did Andy lose to such a lowly-ranked player?
PMac: I guess DiPasquale was on his game yesterday; not just anybody can defeat Andy Roddick
camera zooms down on Corretja, who is finishing his warm-up
Cliff: Well, Patrick, what do you think of Corretja's chances today? It is his first match in a long time.
PMac: Well, you know he was one of the seven victims Juan Carlos claimed on his way to the Roland Garros crown. I think his loss to Ferrero was another crushing blow to this fading Spanish star. Because you know, Cliff, the Spanish players aren't like the American players, who can last forever.
Cliff: Alex is playing one of the young upstarts, Richard Gasquet, today in his first-round match. Now, this is not a clay court match, where both players excel. This is a hard court. Who has the edge, Patrick?
PMac: I'd have to give the edge to the youngster Gasquet. After all, Gasquet pummeled our boys in Davis Cup this year. He has nice groundstrokes and more firepower than Corretja. Plus, that youthful determination.
camera pans around the stadium, looking for those all-too-cute players box shots
PMac: Well, Alex has an interesting addition to his players box. Isn't that Ferrero's wife, Layla?
Cliff: I wonder how she & Alex know each other? And it is strange, why would she be cheering for Alex today? How did she get into the stadium without being interrogated by security?
Layla somehow senses she's on ESPN's camera. She notices Alex has finished his warm-up, so she blows him a kiss and calls out, "Vamos, Alex!"
Cliff: Well, folks, the drama just keeps building here at TMS Canada. Stay tuned, we'll keep you posted.
