LOL @ Lindsay's comment! i just love that girl!

"Ferrero's going to be a tough one for anybody. This guy is the real deal already. He's got a chance at going a long, long way. This guy could be the best Spanish player ever; that's saying something." - John McEnroe, June 2000

::sneaks back in::

C'mon, Max!! He's down 2 sets to 1 now. FIGHT!!! FIGHT!!!

I feel your pain, Leo, but it will immediately get better. I also understand your aversion to work when there is tennis going on. I find my mind wandering as I try to read for my classes. But what I put off today will come back to bite me tomorrow.

BTW, we're still on page 38 in my settings . . . how many pages is the Lleyki thread by your estimation, then?!

Morning, everyone!

Well, Max lost to Agassi last night but he put up a nice fight, 4 sets. I can't wait to see all of the match. I watched the first five games and it was really good. If I recall correctly, indeed, there were many more winners than unforced errors in that match. Always nice to hear But, alas, the semifinals are even worse than I could have imagined: Hewitt/Agassi and probably Gonzo/Sampras or Roddick. Yuck.

Hahaha, just looking at the schedule and Gonzalez/Schalken is on Arthur Ashe after two doubles matches.

The US Open schedulers are still wankers, even without the rain.

Mirnyi 97 MPH
Agassi 85 MPH

So, all in all a good match. Winners/Unforced Errors--Mirnyi had 67/30 and Agassi was 74/28. Max also broke twice, each time on the first break point. Unfortunately, he didn't take quite as good care of his own serve, being broken 5 times But let's look on the bright side--Max is 25, and this is only his first Grand Slam singles quarterfinal!! He has done nothing but steadily improve over the years

And he's still in the doubles, playing both his quarterfinal and possible semifinal matches today. at another scheduler's nightmare.

Morning TH!

1300 posts that's a good thing. Of course you're not a dork (otherwise I'd be Queen Dorkette )

Too bad Max lost. But I'm watching the replay of their match right now and it is truly great, very enjoyable. Max put up quite a fight, I'm sure his rankings are bound to improve in the future.

So at least we got one highly enjoyable quarter-final match.

What's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding?

Leo that sounds just horrible. We always had a pretty easy first week, slowly adjusting to classes and studying, and that's the way it should be IMO. No need to go overboard the first day. Anyway, I hope you get through it without too much trouble. I know how much you hate oral presentation.

LOL, to the Queen, you peons!!

I'm going to get all of my tapes, probably after the DC semifinal ties, and just have a tennis watching fest. The only good thing about watching the US Open is that they tend to skip around and look in on different matches, so it won't be totally boring.

I actually had my tapes stopped during the rain delays (well, on Sunday at least) and then I hear they were showing classic matches!! Damn!! I love watching my old Wimbly tapes for just that reason. at myself. Here I was, hoping to avoid the replay of all of the Sampras/Agassi matches, and instead they were showing relatively good stuff.

Oh, and Max is going to be in at least the Top 25 next week, thanks to this run. Very exiciting!!!

I always felt very overwhelmed on my first day back to classes, but it usually evened out. Mostly, all that worrying for nothing. I mean, you aren't going to have a blank fill-in-the-elements test in chem, are you? That's stupid. They just want to intimidate you

Once you get over the first hump of a paper, or a presentation, it's usually back to normal.

LMAO!

Oh, you're going to have so much fun. Some of the 1st and 2nd round matches were terrific. I wish I had taped them for rainy days (read the whole tennis-free September).

Grrrrrrr. Schalken lost the first set in a tie-break and he was 5-1 up (in the tie-break that is). On the set point, Gonzo was incredibly lucky with the net cord. So unfair.

GO SJENG!!! You're returning his monster shots so well. I know you can do this!

YES!!!! Schalken took the second set 6-3 and had breakpoints on every Gonzo's serve!

Gonzalez's game really dropped in the last few games. I hope it stays that way, because Sjeng is still going strong.

I realize I'm talking to myself here but I don't mind. Hope the rest of you don't either.
