Re: Juan Carlos in Madrid

welcome anita!

i was lucky to see ferreros match last night and it was good of him to get thru the third set because he had a bad game at the end of the second where he questioned two line calles and after that was really mad and didnt start the start of the third like he was relaly with it and just when u thought jc was goign to be the one to crack federer started to throw in a few double faults and errors so in a way he was lucky that federer didnt lift his game or he wouldnt have been able to keep up.

GOOD LUCK AGAINST MASSU...massu is in my good books coz he defeated roddick but he cant beat ferrero too! should be interesting match..

Re: Re: Juan Carlos in Madrid

I also thought he was gonna crack too, after he lost his cool and gave that second set away, started the 3rd with his head hanging a bit, I really thought that was it that Rogi's gonna sail home. And Federer looked like he's getting a good grip of returning Juanqui's serves in the 2nd set. But I would also credit Juanqui for picking up his game in the 3rd set. Federer DFs to 0-30 but managed to get back to 30-30. Then Juanqui kept going for his shots and that 2 beautiful return winners got him the break. And he played more aggressive on his serve too in the 3rd set, taking risks and going for the winners in some big points. I thought they both played great. Rogi is so fast, I mean, Juanqui is known to be fast but Rogi moved around the court so effortlessly.

I kept wondering what's going thru his mind when serving for the set. Those attempted drop shots makes me cringe, reminded me of how he lost Shanghai to Hewitt playing one too many of those drop shot. Anywayz, a little scare at the end but he managed not to choke all his match points away .

After such great effort to win this match, I can't imagine if he loses tomorrow. So pls, Juanqui, take the title tomorrow to finish your spanish tournament trophies collection, por favor.

How's that for a claycourter? Well done Juanqui! New champions race leader and STILL numero uno!

How nice.

Btw, Ferrero pulled out of Basel. Definitely a smart choice with Paris, the Masters Cup, and Davis Cup finals coming up in a short amount of time.

I just hope Roddick wont become the n.1 in the world in Basel, otherwise Juanqui will regret this choice for good.

Re: Madrid Final: Juan Carlos Ferrero def. Nicolas Massu 6-3 6-4 6-3!

No worries, Roddick can't get to the top spot even if he wins Basel. And he has little chance of getting the top spot in Paris (well little chance meaning he has to do way better than JC and JC will have to lose very early, but I guess anything is possible so I'm not routing him out). Because Juanqui is now 300pts ahead of him (after Basel's pt dropped off), with nothing (only 5pts) to defend in Paris. So even if Pandy wins Basel, Juanqui will have like at least 290pts more going into Paris. Juanqui is not going to lose his ranking for the next 2 weeks.

It's good that he can now have a chance to rest up his ankle. I hope he will be injury-free for Paris, Houston and DC.

Ooooooops, forgot to mention, since he's now leading in both ranking systems, I'm just referring to the Entry system ranking that Juanqui's #1 is safe for the next 2 weeks. For the champion race, Roddick can add points if he reachs the Final or win in Basel.
