On the war path at TMS Madrid

I'm trying to figure out right now whether it's possible for JC to be seeded. Unfortunately, the tournament directors are going to use October 10th to determine the seeds. JC will be #22 in the rankings, not enough for a 16 seed. However, for direct entry, they use September 5th to determine who is accepted directly. Because Ginepri was outside the limit, JC is 21 on the list now.

Safin is out, boosting JC to 20. Hewitt and Agassi could possibly be out as well. JC is now up to 18. If Puerta has indeed tested positive for a banned substance, I don't think the ATP would allow him to play. Nadal withdrew from Vienna this week with a knee injury, and he never does well this time of the year, so he could be out of Madrid as well. If all goes according to this, JC will be the #16 seed!

What would Anderson say?

Cool Re: On the war path at TMS Madrid

You start a new cheering thread so early.
Unless Andre is injured again,I heard he will play.I doubt Nadal will skip Madrid. It sounds he withdrew with fatigue more than a knee injury,he did it in Umag too.But even Juan is a seed player,he may play against some dangerous players as well.

Re: On the war path at TMS Madrid

great scenario you've made up for JC, but Nadal has said Madrid is his main goal now so i dont guess his 'knee injury' will stop him to play. but anyway, everyone is now not gonna be easy for JC, heck even players outside top 50 so...the only benefit for him to be seeded is i guess he would avoid the 'luck' to play Fed or Nadal in r1.....well, we'll see! hope it works out for him!

Re: On the war path at TMS Madrid

Hopefully everything goes like you said, and if he can't be a seeded,to draw with high seed in the first round,i mean of couse not Roger Federer, and beat him(whoever he meets,at least he has no disadvantage,IMO)the rest of the draw will be more easiler.

Roger in the first round in Madrid? Piece of cake (or torta)--isn't that where Juanqui last beat him?

Re: On the war path at TMS Madrid

But they are not the same JC and Federer as 2 year before, even facing him it's really not a big deal, perhaps just a loss again.

Re: On the war path at TMS Madrid

Urgent
Roger, Hewitt, and Andre are out of Madrid. JC is up to #17 now in the entry list. However, if one more person withdraws, Ginepri will move until the main draw, and would get the #16 seed since he's ranked ahead of JC this week.

We need two more people to withdraw. Anyone live close enough to any tennis players that they could break a kneecap by Friday?

What would Anderson say?

Re: On the war path at TMS Madrid

Pull a Tonya Harding, eh?

Davydorko has a shoulder injury that caused him to tank, er, lose in the first round of Moscow...some posters are hoping Gasquet pulls out of Madrid...apparently he's been injured lately... And what about Puerta? Is he allowed to keep playing??

Re: On the war path at TMS Madrid

Of course if Juanqui (yoo doofus!) hadn't gone down 3 ranking places this week, we wouldn't be having this conversation now...

Re: On the war path at TMS Madrid

We'll have to wait and see what happens with Puerta. Has it been confirmed once and for all that he did indeed test positive once again? It wouldn't make sense for the ATP to allow him to keep playing for the moment if he did.

What would Anderson say?

Thumbs up Re: On the war path at TMS Madrid

Looks like Juan has a higher chance to be a seed player.
