Re: the hometown Valencia tourney PLS give him some luck thread

OMG 6-2 6-1 was he even trying? I don't know how long we can keep making excuses for him, i thought Rafa would win but not that easily

Quote:
Here's hoping he'll draw Joachim Johansson or Tim henman in Monte Carlo
to be honest i'm not sure he could beat either of them at the moment

Sorry i'm a bit frustrated with him at the moment

Rafa Nadal Juanqui Ferrero

Marat Safin Carlos Moya Feli Lopez Nando Verdasco Richie Gasquet

Robredo Guga Garcia-Lopez Ferrer Tomeu

Interviewer: It surprises people how well you get on with Nadal
Carlos Moya: I can't conceal that. I love him very much and I knew that one day he would be better than me. He's on another level.

Re: the hometown Valencia tourney PLS give him some luck thread

He hasn't lost to bad players this season. Except for Sidney maybe. So that's a huge improvement compare to last year. Nadal almost beat Federer, he's playing extraordinary well atm. Juanca needs a good draw to get some confidence, he never gets a break when it comes to draws opening up.

Ok, it did kinda open up after Canas last week, but Ferrer beat Nalbandian and was playing well all week.

See how good I am in keeping hopes up?

yes as you said he hasn't lost to bad players this season except Auckland but if he wants to go futher he must beat top players. His improvement is not enought to make him remarkable as before.

Re: the hometown Valencia tourney PLS give him some luck thread

Oh yes it was Auckland, my bad. I had blocked that result out already

I agree he needs to beat top players, but Rafa is clearly having a strong couple of weeks right now, that might be asking too much of JC who's not back to his old self yet. I thought him beating Canas was a very good sign and hopefully not just a one time thing Rafa's game might not suit JC's very well anyway, it was the first time they played.

Re: the hometown Valencia tourney PLS give him some luck thread

the boys cursed with bad draws. {apart from miami i s'pose} but with MC up next i think he can cause some damage there....once he dosent get feds or someone crazy in the opening rounds. maybe if he got like.....andy. yeah andy would be a great draw, as much as i love andy

Re: the hometown Valencia tourney PLS give him some luck thread

JC's serve is a obstacle from him getting his old form.As we can see because of his great serve improvement in summer of 2003, out of our mind he reached USO final and against Hewitt in QF he made 21 ACE to be his career ace recorder.Serve is so important in this tennis world and he sicks of strength players ,I just wonder why is his serve retrogress seriouly?I think that's the biggest problem he is facing now.

btw,Roddick doesn't pull out of MC? He never played MC before.
I am just hoping not another spanish he is going to play in MC.

"I think I played pretty much okay, but I was a bit surprised as Juan Carlos helped me in making more mistakes than usual," said Nadal.

"That calmed me down early on. The draw wasn't kind to me putting me up against Ferrero on his home patch. But I think he was a bit nervous."

Ferrero said he "paid the price" for trying too hard and heads to Monte Carlo next week looking to improve.

"I felt uncomfortable out there throughout," he said. "I took too many risks and made too many mistakes."
