Re: The Picture Thread

Hmmm.. Wonder if they'll be celebrating mid-autumn festival this sunday and try eating mooncakes!!! Maybe they should carry lanterns too... Hee... It's so cute to see them doing the chinese greetings, Gong Xi Fa Cai, wherein we wished each other prosperity which takes place during Chinese New Year (ie. like New Year's day).

Re: The Picture Thread

Maybe this is why JC grew his hair out, so he wouldn't be out of place by having short hair. But then again Nadal is out of place by not having been a world #1.

What would Anderson say?

These are fantastic pix! I love when they dress up the guys in the local traditional costume!! Fab!!! They just love these "Caucasians" in China, don't they?!

Juanqui can be an emperor -- I also loved the it when he was at the TMC Shanghai!

Too bad Juanqui isn't playing Basel, he can look Swiss like Rogi!!

Re: The Picture Thread

Here's a video link on their trip: mms://nv.sina.com.cn/sports/2005/09/13423126.wmv

Transcript:

Newscaster: China Open 2005 has been proclaimed as Spain's China Open 2005. This is due to the number of Spain's top players participating in this tournament which include Moya & Ferrero whom came last year and World No. 2 player, Rafael Nadal whom's also the tournament's top seed. The 3 Spaniards visited Beijing's Forbidden City today and even put on emperor's robes to feel what it is like to be a king.

Narrator: Even though both Moya and Ferrero have played last night, it did not affect their mood today. It was also a rare opportunity for the top seed, Nadal, to relax before his match. The 3 of them also got a pleasant surprise before entering the Forbidden City. Even though Moya and Ferrero came last year but like Nadal, it was the 1st time they get to wear an emperor's robe. The 3 of them were very excited with this arrangement.

Rafa, Ferrero & Moya's Interview..

Narrator: The 3 of them even did a short fashion parade modelling the robes, however it seems that they had difficulties walking once they donned the robes. The most hilarious part is that even with the royal robes on. they did not forget their real identity. It is quite hilarious to see a foreigner in an emperor robe holding a tennis racquet. Even though they are away from the competition, it is still inevitable to avoid the topic of the on-going China Open. Among the 3 Spaniards, top seed Rafael Nadal's match is the last, however he's cautious of his opponent.

Rafa's interview..

Even though the sight of them to us is comical in our eyes, it is also a rare opportunity for the 3 of them to relax during the competition. Today Nadal and his 2 older brothers got to experience an emperor's glory, maybe the glory will rub off on them in this year's China Open.

I think Carlos would look better if he and Nadal swapped outfits.
