Re: Juan Carlos is in ROMA!

He avoided Bye this time but again either De Bakker or Tsonga.

Good draw. Should make the last 16, at least.

Re: Juan Carlos is in ROMA!

In fact, I'll be disappointed if he doesn't make the QF. He's got to take advantage when presented with draws like these at Masters. Best chance he'll ever have of getting close the top 10.

Agreed. It's either Tsonga or De Bakker, not both of them, that JC may have to face. Other than that it's a rather good draw.

Still, even qualifiers shouldn't be underestimated in a Masters event. Some of them are in-form players so could be dangerous.
Those qualified are: Chela, Llodra, Granollers, Leo Mayer, Luczak, Giraldo and Hajek. Don't know who will be slotted in JC's section yet.

Good luck, JC!

Re: Juan Carlos is in ROMA!

Not if you're beating them......at least in the case of Tsonga.

Ok, here's another Masters event. I hope he'll have his laser-like focus this time around.

With this entry list it would have been impossible to get an easier draw. Potentially no top 50 players before the QF (if De Bakker beats Tsonga again). Never seen that at a Masters before.

Re: Juan Carlos is in ROMA!

Yep. But the first thing first.
Giraldo beat Lapentti and Nieminen to qualify, so he must be playing well. But both match were three setters (third set TB in the second round) so the guy may be tired.
The other qualifier in JC's section, who will be playing Beck, is Llodra.

All the best, JC!

Re: Juan Carlos is in ROMA!

Hey all.

Match about to get under way. Stadium looks is kind of empty. Also looks bigger than last year, did they expand? Maybe an illusion.

6am here in Kansas. Might go back to sleep when it's over.
