True that... But, now that he lost to two lesser-ranked players in a row, however sublime they both played, it could be nice if he can win a few matches to get back some confidence rather than spending two weeks practicing before Madrid.
Maybe it's just one of those days but it's a real pity he couldn't find the way to hurt Giraldo's game till the end...

JUAN CARLOS FERRERO FOREVER!!

Also supporting Rafael Nadal, Kei Nishikori, Lleyton Hewitt
David Ferrer, Andy Murray, Juan Martin Del Potro, Nikolay Davydenko, David Nalbandian

O Jimnik don't go there...
It's JC who must be fuming with himself now... but it's not the end of the world.
But, yeah...it sucks!!!!!

I know but it's very depressing. With this loss goes his last chance of ever getting back into the top 10.

I mean no matter what happens for the rest of the season he'll surely look back on this as the biggest waste of an opportunity. And I mean that in every sense. Yes Giraldo played well but he had SO MANY chances to get back in the 2nd set. SO MANY regrets today. I feel like it could be a career ending kind of result but obviously I hope I'm totally wrong.

His losses this time last year were equally bad.

I was thinking the same thing. I didn't see the match but this is going to eat at him for awhile. What a depressing thing for him and his fans. It sounds like he came out there in a funk and couldn't break clear of it. No plan B? Come on. But to be fair, sounds like the other guy played the match of his life. Still how long can one palm it off to it's being just another bad day for JC? He's obviously a very moody guy.....unless he was sick or injured. Anyone know yet?

Re: Juan Carlos is in ROMA!

WTF? I saw the result and came straight here only to read the comments at the top of this page like career-ending.

I'm not even going to bother looking at the stats for this one. I hope this isn't what everyone was predicting in the cheering thread for Acapulco when he was playing for the 3rd straight week.

Hopefully all this was was a bad day but it couldn't have come at a worse time.

Juan-Carlos Ferrero. Thomaz Bellucci. Andreas Seppi. Lisa Raymond. Marion Bartoli.
Davydenko. Tecau. Melzer. Peschke. Azarenka. Robredo. Kubot.

Re: Juan Carlos is in ROMA!

The worst loss for while for JCF.
Hope he will comeback strong in Madrid or anywhere he plays next.

Mardy Fish!

Brian Baker - Steve Johnson - Lleyton Hewitt - Carlos Berlocq - Tommy Haas - Ivo Karlovic - Richard Gasquet - Kevin Anderson - David Ferrer - Michael Russell - Fabio Fognini - Dustin Brown - Somdev Devvarman

Re: Juan Carlos is in ROMA!

Worst loss since the AO (that one was worse than today imo).

Well, like I said, his losses this time last year were equally bad. I guess we have to accept he'll always have bad patches like this. We were hoping this year would be different (after super February) but we got our reality check today.

Actually I don't think this will be too significant. The slams are what count so with a decent run at RG or Wimby I'm sure all will be forgotten.

Actually that line was part of Jimnik's post and I singled it out to agree with him. Facebook was never a source. In hindsight I was a little overwhelmed with the shock of JC's loss when I hinted at "career ending". I honestly don't think he'll quit over this. He loves tennis too much. And as he hasn't lost that many points (yes, Jim?) he'll be okay if he can get his act together in Madrid and FO.

Oh, Juanqui! Were you hurt-or ill? What happened? That was a terrible way to begin my day!
