If he wants to win the French he must play in Monte-Carlo, this is the real test in terms of surface, player, conditions. But this year he's focused on W so MC is of secondary importance

"I asked a bloke in the front row if he liked the serve-and-volley stuff," said Rafter. "He said he did but asked if he was going to get to see any rallies. 'Not today, mate,' I told him."

Why is Monte Carlo the real test??

so he does not have to play it, has he?

My point is simply that there is too little time between Miami and Monte Carlo, not only for Roger, also for Nadal who even plays Valencia, the schedule is terrible. A break on time can be very valuable in terms of digesting, adapting and preparing for the next steps.

I don't think he would skip Monte Carlo coz after failing to get 4 slams titles this year his next goal is to win all the Master Series like he said in one of his interview. Unlike Nadal who put a lot of energy into his match, Rogi always make the match look easy and i think he handle his energy well enought to play back to back tournament. From IW to Miami he had no time to have a break but still win both with his comfortable style I hope he can win all the Master Series plus Wimbly and USO and being serious about the FO for the next year so its would be another awesome year with the different result and of course he still have something to pursuit in the next year Sound like i am too optimistic?
