I need some advice from people living in Great Britain

Hi !

I'm gonna spend next year in Great Britain thanks to an Erasmus program, but my university is asking me to choose between these universities :

Warwick, Manchester, Coventry, Glasgow (Stathclyde), London Rhul, Birmingham and Dublin (DIT)

I don't know which city is best. Can you give me some advice ?
Thanks

Re: I need some advice from people living in Great Birtain

Birmingham/Manchester are the best for students, I have a lot of friends who went there.....educationally they're both very good and they both have a very good nightlife, which is of course the most important thing

I believe Warwick is pretty good as well, but I've never been. Strathclyde (Glasgow) I wouldn't advise, it's not the best.

Warwick is good, but as far as I know you're stuck on a campus and the nearest place is Coventry, which is crap, I think. Manchester sounds the best bet.

Well - I would agree with adee-gee and alansk. Manchester and Birmingham are both big and vibrant cities and excellent Universities, and Warwick is also a good Uni. though a much smaller place without much going on. Very pretty area though Dublin and Glasgow are both good places but the Unis don't have such a good reputation. Coventry isn't a very nice pace to live, and London can be very expensive and difficult for a foreign student. I would go for Manchester myself!!

I live in Dublin (Republic of Ireland ) and went to university here too and I always thought our universities had good reputations. I don't know much about DIT but as a city, Dublin is a friendly place and has a great social scene, especially for students, and many people come from other countries to study here.

On the downside, Dublin is a very expensive city to live in, but there are a lot of concessions for students.

I have friends at Manchester, Wawrick and Birmingham and they all say its pretty good but out of the three Manchester is probably the better followed by Birmingham.

I agree with Rosie London is expensive depending on where you are

Leave off Birmingham. There are more than enough MTF'ers here already

I've seen Wawrick as that was one of my short-listed options, and it is a very nice campus. As a poster said, it is pretty small and not much goes on though.

Birmingham and Manchester are both good unis, and they are in pretty vibrant cities which is good for the "student experience." You'd also benefit from good transport links.

Don't know anything about the others.
