In the 4th installment of our rivalry, @Freak3yman84 def. Johnny Groove 6-2, 2-6, 6-3
Had nearly 2 months of getting used to Colorado, and I played much better this time. Serve I changed, tried to get more turn on the body, more like Sampras or McEnroe. Still need to get that ball toss higher. I liked the way I hit the backhand open stance defensively, which is another one I am trying to work on, to be able to hang in there more with the backhand. Still think I need to work more on some strength in the arm and shoulder. Lost a good 10-15 lbs since coming here, and I felt very fit out there. We also had a facility with water so that was good
Really though this was a match of runs, very rollercoaster. I held the first game, 1-0. Then he won 5 games in a row, 5-1. Then I held for 2-5. Then he won 3 more games in a row for 6-2, 2-0. After missing many BPs, growling more and more through the game, and as he held for 2-0, I threw the racquet. The frame was ok, but the handle was cracked and I need to glue it back together at work tomorrow.
I switched racquets and promptly won 8 games in a row
I went from 2-6, 0-2 to 2-6, 6-2, 2-0. That game at 2-0 when I served in the 3rd was really important. I need to go back and look at exactly what happened. A very very frustrating occurence today was me serving really well and he hits a good return and then I make a 3rd ball error. I am still adjusting admittedly to how the ball comes through the air on the return of serve at altitude compared to sea level. After being up 2-0, he won 5 games in a row again to go 5-2 in the third and I broke him back for 3-5, but was unable to consolidate. Couple double faults and some errors did me in. He played well though, he played well. Want to do stats for this one also. Really need to get stronger in the shoulder, react better to the 3rd ball, and increase the ball toss on the serve. Which is very difficult because you have to alter your entire service action and timing and rhythm. But I must. Here is the video. Racquet break is at 36:20 or something.
Match was 2h11, but I edited out the dead time, lots of highlights, maybe later in the week.

The attached picture picture illustrates it nicely
Federer, Sampras, and Groove, Both of them have much higher ball tosses than me in the trophy pose, and I also see that they both have more upper torso tilt. More shoulder over shoulder action.

Tried to, really this ball toss height is a big problem
