Ugly architecture

I was in Oxford earlier today for a meeting, when I came across this monstrosity of a design - the 'Investcorp Building' - tacked along to the Middle East Centre. It's by Zaha Hadid (predictably).

The view from the front...

But then it looks worse, much much worse.

Awful 'modernist'/'futuristic' design. I think it's the sheer narcissism of the architecture, plonked there without regarding for taste, place or existing sense of historical style, and just screaming 'This is MY design'. View from the road completely spoilt  A little bit of research from the 'Architect's statement' is even worse:

The building does not aim to impose; but instead the floating nature of the 'bridge' is emphasised via the chosen cladding material. The main building body will be clad with stainless steel, which has a light and ephemeral appearance, because the existing context of listed buildings and trees are mirrored in its surface; as are the ever changing light conditions and seasonal changes.

Reminds me of Pitchfork reviews (hi BSGers). Or bird droppings music.

Please share any other examples of awful architectural design you know

I think The O2 arena and National Monument in Rome are both pretty cool.

Even North Korean tower does not look much worse than The Shard.

Many people in Paris hate The Montparnasse Tower.
